Small world experiences while travelling?

We almost always have a "small world" experience while traveling. There is almost always somebody we know either waiting at the airport that we know at the the same time we are, or on the same plane was we are, either coming or going. They are not always coming or going to WDW. Our best confluence of coincidences was the trip several years ago that waiting for the plane, we saw a coworker of my husband whose said his daughter was doing the college internship program at MK. He was going to Florida, but not to Disney. Who do you think we saw when we got the Philharmagic that evening? None other that his daughter, whom we had never met before. She was kind enough to give us a couple special fast passes for every body in our party that were good for our entire trip, at any park. Then, later that same trip, we were sitting in front of the Dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom, and saw a family that we knew from church (who were friends, but, we didn't know they were going the same time we were).

My son sometimes complains that we talk to strangers, but, if you don't, then you never can get to know them as friends.

In 2007 we had just gotten off of EE at AK and as we walked through the gift shop, DH ran into a co-worker of his. They don't work in the same area, so neither knew the other one was on vacation.

In 1999 we were staying at ASMovies and waiting at the bus stop when someone from our church showed up. It was an elderly couple who had brought their kids and their families for a big bash at Disney. Found out they came every few years. Got to be when we saw each other at church we would ask if either had Disney plans. Then, a few years later I went into our local AAA to book a Disney trip and there they sat...booking a Disney trip for the husband's 80 birthday! We were going a month apart!

In a place as vast as Disney, it really is something to actually run into people you know. I mean when you think about it, you could easily miss them by seconds. Think of all the people we almost ran into!:rotfl:

Back in 2004, my parents and I were dropped off at MCO and finished checking in with Skycap. The rep moved to the next family and asked where they were going. parents replied Chicago, and the little boy says, I thought we are going small town near Chicago. Parents say well planes don't fly there and we turn around with mouths dropped open and asked if they lived in small town. They said Yes, and we said, so do we. Of course on same flights. Their son was in kindergarten with a little boy I had babysat for many years. Get home, and my Mom runs to grocery store and runs into that Mom again. And then started running into her all the time. It was kind of funny.

Not at WDW... But at jury duty, I met this woman who lived 1 town over and was a knitter like me. We chatted a lot at jury duty and found out we liked the same knit shop. And then she and I started running into each other there all the time. It was funny. She was my jury duty knitting friend.

Last year, while waiting for a bus to DTD at Boardwalk. Struck up a conversation with a very nice family who'd asked about my Northwestern Univ. t-shirt and found out they live about 3 blocks away from me! And I live in a very small town! Next day, guess who I ran into again???!! At EPCOT this time. :rotfl:

We were in Guatemala City, Guatemala and a nice young man doing a mission trip started a conversation with us. He said he was from the US and flying back in the AM and just hadn't seen an American in a while. Then we talked some more, and found out he lived 3 blocks away from us! Love that story...and he was so happy to be going home

I run into people we know in Epcot a lot, seems to be our meeting park. My friend ran into someone we knew in resort arcade one evening and there is a mysery person that called friends name in lady's room of I believe it was MK, it was first and middle name so could have only been someone from cruise group who knew her from fb or someone I lost contact with years ago that knew her by that name.
