Small World already plussed with Disney Characters...

Don't panic - but in case you didn't notice - Flounder and Dory are little plush gifts in the mermaids' Christmas Stockings. Flounder is in Aquata's and Dory is Attina's (I think). Willa didn't have any.

Thought you guys might be amused! We also spoke to a friend of ours (who is in the know as our friend is high on the park food chain and the rehab is part of their pervue) and were told that the character additions are extremely nice and subtle - they appear as toys and such - and I really trust what our friend tells us. I don't relay info from our friend very often (read to mean - at all) since this is a very public board, but I thought that their comment was appropriate to relay.

I know that Dory and Flounder were there last year! I tried to get pictures this year, but they didn't come out that well.

I'm excited for the character additions!!!

The mermaid tail/flipper xmas stockings were so cute!

Here's the picture I took...you can see Dory & Flounder in the flipper-stockings! I also love how the mermaids left fish instead of cookies for Santa!

So many people (on other boards) are freaking out thinking the new additions will "take over" or "ruin" the ride. I for one am very excited to see the "subtle" changes and additions.

When DD worked at DL, I was very careful of what I did or did not say as I never wanted to get her in trouble and quite frankly, plans/things change and I never wanted to start any false rumors. Thanks for the info Nancy, I am sure it is spot on.

And I am amongst that group. At the Parks where that has been done, people have protested and strongly protested the results. That is why Disney went major "hush hush" on what exactly is being done at DL's IASW.

I still say, "leave perfection alone!" IASW is an amazing, wonderful, and classic tribute to countries around the world. Don't mess it up with making it what it was never ever meant to be.

I too feel that IASW was beautiful before. It drew lines of people before, so I do not see why they felt that it needed an update. I can understand re-doing the flume and the new boats, but I don't feel that the addition of new characters will add anything to the experience for me.

Granted, the Dory and Flounder in the stockings in the picture above are subtle touches, which I do not mind..... I just think that adding new Disney character dolls are necessary for people to enjoy the ride.

Yeah, I watched a DVD about Disneyland I got in my stocking last night, and when I saw designing with Mary Blair and how they explained what Small World meant, I was thinking about what they would do to the ride. The North America scene is perfectly fine with me, but I don't want Disney characters raiding It's A Small World. Just my two cents.

I for one can't wait to see the additions, sounds really cute. I was one of those who was very worried about the POTC changes, but love them now. So now I have faith that Disney simply "plussed" this ride as well.

I don't mind seeing Disney characters there though, it IS Disneyland after all!LOL

I too am looking forward to the updates. I love a "classic" don't get me wrong, and I've been going to DL my whole life so I've been on IASW many many times. I really love the idea of putting characters in there with the IASW style, my 4 yo can't wait to see the changes too! IMO, the ride did need some updates, and as previously mentioned Disney knows how to update very well indeed!
