I don't think I knew about when my kids had theirs, but they are old now :rotfl:
DD's would have been her 29th, 13 years ago and DS's would have been 4th 41 years ago
Grand kids haven't gotten to their's yet.

Mine would have been on the 20th of the month, 60 years ago. :faint: I had never heard of a golden birthday until earlier this year. I had received an Evite email where the subject line was something like Invite to a Golden Birthday. I assumed somebody we knew was having a 50th birthday but the only one I could think of had his 50th like 8 months prior. As I went on the Evite I saw it was for friends of ours twin girls who were 18 on the 18th the following month or so. I asked Marie what the heck that was and she explained to me. It was a nice party.

And a very Happy Birthday, @piglet1805. Hoping you have a super, fun day, week and year ahead. :cake:

Your golden birthday is the year you turn the same age as your birthday – for example, turning 25 on the 25th, or 31 on the 31st. If you've ever wondered where the tradition comes from, you're not alone. Joan Bramsch, a midwestern author, started celebrating her five children's golden birthdays in the 1950s.

I've never heard of it. But I was 17 and likely didn't do anything. I had a sweet 16 cookout and then went to a nice dinner with the family for 18. Last 2 birthday celebrations for me and I am now 51.
I was 17 as well. In NJ at the time, 17 was the minimum driving age (no learner's permits back then). I remember getting my license that day, and my grandfather gave me my current jewelry box. I saved the note he put inside it saying that he was sorry that his checkbook told him no new cars were available for me. My brother, ever the joker, also gave me a Matchbox car.

Never heard of this. To me a 'golden' birthday would be when you turn 50.

Never heard of it. Sorry to some of you, but to me it sounds kind of like people who don't just have birthday, but have a birthmonth.

Everything is a big real now thanks to the internet. Never heard of it until a few years go.

Mine has come me gone. My other golden birthday (50) has come and gone as well.

I turned 20 over 35 years ago on my golden birthday. DH and kids have all had theirs too except my youngest. She turns 18 next week but her golden birthday isn’t for another 12 years.

I hadn’t heard of it before! I was 4. But I feel bad now because I didn’t do anything special for my kids. I guess only one has had a golden birthday when she turned 7. My other three are late in the month. So I could do something but it’s sad I didn’t with my first daughter.
