I always bring snacks - pringles, granola bars, m&ms. Maybe fruit if we're just flying domestically. It's not often, but we occasionally grab things in the airport during a short layover and then eat it on the plane. Often a sandwich, fruit cup, hummus. But I know I've also had a cup of soup, and a pizza hut personal pizza. I'd rather not, mainly because it's more stuff to juggle while boarding, but sometimes the timing makes it unavoidable. I do like that the eating gives me something to do for a few minutes of the flight. Anything to pass time. I don't remember ever having any smell issues from food anyone else has ever brought onboard any flight I've been on.

I like the international flights that automatically serve a meal (and wine). Some of them have actually been pretty good!

We usually stop in an airport lounge before our flights. Most have a buffet that includes decent food choices. We usually take advantage of the food because it seems like no matter when we fly, we are missing a meal and/or arriving after restaurants are open.

As for people eating on a plane, I don't mind in any way. Could be food provided by the airline, bought from the airline, or brought on the plane by the passenger.

We eat prior at the airport. Buy snacks on the plane. It’s something I would never consider doing or see a reason to do.

I've been on flights before where there is horrendous smelling food and it goes through the air vents, one time I seriously almost threw up. To that end I've been on trains where that has happened though in that case it was more limited to someone being right by me.

I have brought snacks like chips, chex mix, cold sandwich, etc all bought from an airport kiosk but never restaurant food. We really do try to eat the food before we board the plane (it's kinda a hassle to bring too much food IMO just sitting in the seats and all that) the exception being when we are on long haul flights where again it's just the chips/chex mix, etc those sorts of things. We have purchased food on board as well like we did on Play and that can be hot food but none of it was smelly and I figure on average the airlines try to limit serving food that can be too controversial.

These days we're most often eating in lounges ahead of time so again it's only the long haul that any snack type things are brought on board and even that depends on the airline we intend to fly and the destination. Japan was a long enough flight that the one meal service we didn't anticipate being enough so snacks were brought on.

Never brought hot food on a plane. Once due to a connection we grabbed cold sandwiches and took those with us. We normally eat in the Sky Club. I've been on more than 1 flight where someone has decided it's fine to bring fish or something stinky on our flight, ick!

I generally pack snacks, but nothing hot - just things like granola bars, fruit snacks, maybe almonds (but always in a separate baggie if I bring those! - in case they announce there's an allergy and I need to leave them packed).

I think once we had a tight connection and grabbed a sandwich in the airport to bring with us.

We don't. We get hot food usually and if there's not enough time to sit down in the area where the food is sold we go to the boarding gate area and eat it. I feel if I brought it on the plane by the time I'm sitting waiting to board, then get all settled in, possibly get up so someone could get in our row, etc then finally eat it, it's cold. Then I'm stuck holding onto the garbage for quite some time before the stewardess comes through for trash pickup.
