I like them OK, but don't buy them often. I think they aren't as common in restaurants here in Maine as they are in the Midwest. Rarely do I see them as a side option in restaurants around here, and not often as "tot"chos, either (which I do love but are one of those "snap a clothespin on my aorta and call it a day" kinds of dishes)!

I like sweet potato tots a lot, but I only have them every once in awhile for breakfast when I get them from a grocery store that has a hot food bar.

Idk about this poll. This is a Disney lovers website … shouldn’t they be called their proper name, Potato Barrels. :rotfl:

I like tater tots on occasion, but they’re very rarely made at home. On that same note, if regular fries are on the menu, I’ll choose those over tots. (But I will pick tots over waffle fries or curly fries.)

I don’t have them really often, but I love them. Usually I get the frozen ones and throw them in the oven or toaster oven for a long time.

I like them but never cook them at home. Some of the best Tater Tots I have eaten lately was at a brewery called Holy City in Charleston, SC this spring. They were awesome!
Holy cow!

...I make mine in my air fryer and I swear that thing runs on MAGIC....no oil yet they come out SO CRISPY....I must have a tiny Merlin in there somewhere....

Sandy, can we share tater tot recipes here too?

OK, @slo , I just copied down your Tater Tot casserole recipe. As a New England girl I'd never heard of tater tot casserole or hot dish (actually the term "hot dish" is totally foreign to me), but we have 3 open bags of tater tots/crowns (the 30yo male opens whatever bag he finds without checking to see if something is already open, sigh...). Something's gotta be done with them, so tonight I'm trying your tater tot recipe. There are 5 of us, and the 6yo eats like a truck driver; should I double the recipe?

....God forbid that we should move stuff out of our way to see what's hidden in the freezer or fridge...popcorn::

Yes - I would double it if it were me making it ::yes:: . I hope you like it.

*I make some TTots on the side too.

It's more of a grandkid thing here. We like them, but they are so easy to pop 5 or 50 in mouth, you don't think twice. So we only get them when we can blame the grandkids. Don't want to waste food. :rolleyes1

We make a tater total casserole a little differently...

1 can cream of celery soup spread in the bottom of a 9x13 pan, 1-2 pounds raw ground chuck broken up over that, 1 can cream of mushroom soup spread over the meat, 1 bag frozen tater tots placed evenly over that (I double up here and there in a nice design to get them all on, lol). Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes, uncovered, or longer, until tots are done/crispy.

I've added cauliflower and/or broccoli on top of the meat layer to make it "healthier. " ;)

How I loved tater tots as a kid both at home and from Carl's Jr who I thought back then made the most delicious tots, Wendy's in the 80s were good, too. I also remember enjoying them as a preschool teacher with kids thanks to a coworker using them in breakfast burritos for the kiddos breakfasts. Alberta was always so kind to also make me a simpler version of the burrito without the sausage. Pre pandemic there was a local restaurant that had tasty taters. I no longer eat fried food but good memories. I hope those of you that do still enjoy tater tots get to have some soon :)
