With my recent death of my electric can opener I was wondering…..

What type of can opener(s) do you have?
(multiple choice)

For Me….I now have just an old fashion manual can opener. The one that died sat in a charger and i would put it on the can and it would cut the lid off without me holding it. I was tired of it sitting on my counter, so I’m not replacing it. For as often as I use a can opener, which is not often, I’ll just use my manual one.

Same here! I used to have an electric one that just took up space. Now I use a good old fashioned manual one. I love kitchen appliances, but this was one I didn’t need or miss at all.

I had an electric one for years loved it it died and I couldn’t find a new one that I liked as well so I went back to the old fashion hand one and I like it I got me a real nice one and it works really well and it’s like others have said I don’t open that many cans Not like I used to and like others have said I don’t want it on my counters - how much further have it shoved in a drawer that I have trouble getting open🤣🤣🤣

I currently have the manual. In the past I have had the Electric free standing and under the cabinet. I like the electric ones and they were handy for waking up the cat so that made them multi-taskers.

I use the electric free standing, and DH uses the manual.
The cans I have to open most frequently have pumpkin for my dog, Gus. Also, the tuna cans I have don’t have a pull, also tomato paste. Oh canned peaches…I guess we have a lot more cans than many of you!

I have both a conventional electric can opener that sits on the counter (one of the very few things that does) and one of those hands-free ones like the pink one in @slo ‘s picture. I call that one “the little monster” and only use it to gnaw through gallon-sized cans that are too big for the free-standing one.

Like others above, we used to have an electric can opener but when it bit the dust we never replaced it. Now we use a manual one for the 3 or 4 cans we open every month.

I have both a manual and electric. I use the manual mostly when I'm camping and the electric at home. I really don't open a lot of cans with one these days because it seems many manufacturers use the pull top lids on most of the canned goods I use. I always have the manual one with me just in case though.

I have 3 manual ones (Swing-Away)
Because my hands don't work as well as they used to, I got a battery powdered hands free one. LOVE IT!! No sharp edges.

I have an electric free standing (plug-in), but I keep it in a cupboard for when I need it (a few times a month). Works well, no sharp edges.

We have a manual, same as you.

But we have a still new in the box electrical one found at my sister's house. I thought I may need it at some point in my life. So far so good. Maybe in a few more years, I can sell it as an antique.
