I'm hosting -

I always do my 'big' grocery shop the Sunday morning prior to the holiday. I've outlined my list and will add to it as I remember additional things I need, we will go out for breakfast and my husband will join me to help schlep all the groceries. Wednesday morning I'll pick up my order from the bakery and stop at the grocery store for last minute fresh veggies that I like to get last minute.
I'm making my big trip to the liquor store tomorrow afternoon.
I already have a turkey.

When our kids were little, my husband decided to stop by Costco and pick up two huge pies the day before Thanksgiving. This was for two adults and two very young kids. He said he had trouble deciding so he just got both. When the kids saw the pies, their mouths dropped open and one of them said something along the lines of, "Wow! That's a lot of pie! Can we eat pie all day?" My husband looked at me and we figured, "Yeah. Why not? All day tomorrow we will only eat pie." And so, Pie Day was born. Pie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a side of whip cream thrown in. It is now one of my kids' favourite holidays.

What a fun way to celebrate! That's a great family tradition -

Heck no, I’m not done. I grocery shop practically every day starting the week before Tday through New Years. Always looking for fresh produce and delicious add ons.

Vince is having Thanksgiving at his house again. Marie is bringing some things, not sure what. And if she does not have everything yet, she soon will.

I made allergy free chocolate Neopolitan truffles (strawberry preserves, vanilla extract, and the base allergy safe chocolate chips for the Neopolitan flavor, and then coconut milk solids as the "cream" - if I made them again, I'd get freeze-dried strawberries to blitz and roll them in vs the powdered sugar I used to have them be "snowballs", although that was great, but the hints of strawberry and vanilla weren't quite neopolitan enough for me:)) for my Church bake sale this week - if you want to go dessert, I'd think a small portable one that goes with coffee might be really nice. One truffle is usually just enough sweet for anyone who is too full for anything else. And they can be made ahead...
That sounds really good, and I might come back to it for another event! For Thanksgiving, there's always so much food at the meal that no one makes it to dessert, so I'm thinking probably an appetizer or a side. I found a bean salad that would work... can be made ahead, and the flavors will probably settle even better with a day or two of marinating time!

Other: I live alone, so I'll be hosting myself. I've done some of the shopping, and need to pick up a few more things this week or Monday-ish.
Cornish hen, sausage stuffing, cornbread dressing, maple-glazed carrots and I'll most likely pick up a mini pecan pie for dessert.

I suppose you could say this is my first Thanksgiving since "...and then things went terribly wrong" back in October 2019. Last year, Thanksgiving was no more than another Thursday, and I'd just moved into a new house. I think I cooked a frozen chicken pie.

I picked other.

We're (my two adult kids and son's girlfriend) going to Lake Havasu and getting an AirBnB with my ex and his significant other. They ordered a turkey meal that we heat up, and we're going in together on the house and meal - so maybe cohost?

Don't throw things at me - I'm a guest and don't make anything. My mom usually cooks but since my dad died in 2020 we try NOT to have Thanksgiving at home. It's too hard right now. Last year we went to Disney - they cooked. This year we are going to Orlando/Disney - we will either eat with the in-laws (MIL insists on no one bringing anything!) or Disney.
