I still did baskets for my kids (22 and 18) this year. They’re both at college. DS isn’t coming home so I gave him his when he was home for spring break. He confided that all the treats have already been eaten. My DD is going to come home for the weekend, so she’ll get hers Sunday morning. They weren’t interested in dying eggs but they ARE still interested in Easter baskets.

I bought 3 plastic buckets at Dollar Tree for our granddaughters. I knew they’d be getting plenty of candy already so just bought them each a little card game and puzzle and a little pack of mini M&M’s. Plus we’ll be hiding Easter eggs with cash in them.

Yes, I’m making 3 Easter “baskets” this year for our 3 kids.

I put baskets in ”quotes” because, most years, their baskets have been different kinds of containers filled w/ Easter treats, always a new book, & spring/summer items like new swimsuits, flipflops, sunglasses, etc. The “baskets“ have ranged from storage cubes to swim bags to beach bags to suitcases to laundry baskets… whatever I’ve felt like they’ve needed that year.

This year, their baskets are actual baskets - but they’re new decorative storage baskets for their bathroom which we’re getting ready to re-do.

They each also have a typical Easter basket, & whatever eggs they color go in in their Easter baskets. When they were little, they used their Easter baskets for hunting eggs, but, now, they’re just decoratIve & filled w/ their dyed Easter eggs.

I’m almost 50, & my parents still give me & my sister some kind of treat for Easter, in addition to getting all their grandkids Easter gifts.

So, I suppose I‘m carrying on the tradition, & we’ll continue to give our kids some kind of Easter treat no matter how grown they get!

I made a basket for my sister and BIL that I delivered when I was visiting them a week ago. I also made one for me with candy I bought at a specialty store while visiting them. So far, I haven’t eaten it yet, but I am running out of Girl Scout cookies and giving the bunny the side eye . . .

I got the Easter decor out of the attic last night including the girls’ baskets. The candy and a few small gift cards have been bought. I just have to fill them. My two in college are coming home for the weekend. I usually do a shared basket for me and my husband but we are both dieting so I am skipping that.

Nope. My grand daughter's birthday is the day before Easter this year so I won't be seeing her on Easter Sunday. Since her other grandparents will be there on Sunday, I'm assuming they might get her one or her parents will. She will only be 2 years old so I'm not sure it's even worth it.

I'm not making a candy basket this year because my little Godson doesn't like candy. Instead, I'm making up a sand bucket filled with toys for the beach- a shovel, molds to make a castle, etc. We're going on a short vacation to Wildwood in June and his mom is going to take him to the beach one of the days.

a million years ago when my oldest was a toddler she did daycare at a place with an associated (all one campus) k-12 private school. one year when she was about 3 they had a huge easter egg hunt with areas sectioned off across the campus by a range of ages/grades. well...........someone goofed and mixed up the plastic eggs so the ones for the 4th-6th graders ended up being hid on the toddler site while the toddler's plastic eggs got hidden on the 4th-6th grader's site. toddler parents LOVED munching on the hershey's kisses and mini candy bars in their toddlers eggs (toddlers didn't care, they just liked looking for the eggs) but the 4th-6th graders were NOT amused to open their plastic eggs to find cheerios and raisins o_O o_O as a result the 4th-6th grade playground was littered for weeks with raisins and smashed up cheerios:rotfl2:

good memories

Easter for me is all about celebration and humble thanksgiving to God. That said like stockings at Christmas and Santa, baskets are fun and a way to make additional memories, too. I will be making a basket for my Dad :)

My mom was big on Easter baskets, and made them for me long after I was "too old" so I am carrying on the tradition. 🐰🧺 I will fill DS's as usual, plus I'm making a little one with some sugar free treats for DH, so he doesn't feel left out by his diabetes. The cats needed some new dishes, so those will be their "baskets" - with a package of treats and new mouse/ball in them.

I make an Easter basket every year for my daughter. She's 17 now, soon to be 18, and I will continue to make one until I can't anymore or she tells me to stop. I enjoy doing it. My daughter has my Easter basket from when I was a child and it was my sister's before me. It's at least 50 years old.

This is the first year in 25 years that I’m not making an Easter basket.
Make one for yourself and DH. My daughter is 24 and I still make her a basket and one for DH and I to share. A good excuse to get some goodies we don't normally buy for ourselves.

Chocolate therapy for the win, @slo !!
I think I’m going to buy one and eat it at work tomorrow. Then I’ll need another therapy item to ease my guilt, because I’ll feel like I’m having an affair with chocolate since DH can’t eat it now due to him being diabetic, which is why I’m sneak eating it at the office - LOL!
Same here - first time in over 35 years I’m not making Easter Baskets ☹️
You and I are in the same boat my friend
 to you and Slo.
Thank you Kitty - I do miss my baby. It’s so hard to have my best friend gone - thank God for FaceTime and texting
Definitely get yourself a bunny, or better yet, let your DH know how much this means to you and have him put together a little basket for you. :flower3: Seasons of life change and our hearts often register it as a loss of the parts we loved. Perfectly normal. But also a chance to shift your focus onto other things and recognize the new potential. I sure know what it’s like to pour out lament on “if only things would go back to normal, then I’ll be happy again.” Alas, the hands of time just never seem to turn in that direction.

Maybe fancy Easter brunch will become your new favourite thing! Maybe there’s people you know that would love to be invited to your home to celebrate with a feast. Maybe there’s a kid or two in your circle who doesn’t have much and would be thrilled to receive a little basket of goodies. Maybe the day becomes a special time for just you and your DH to share and focus on really ministering to and blessing each other in the heartache of this transition.

Whatever you end up doing, I know Resurrection morning will bring you a renewed sense of new life and hope for the good future that’s before you, even as the former things must pass away. Grace and peace. :flower3:
Thank you so much for this post - very heartfelt and it means a lot to me ❤️.
Thank you again

I don't make baskets, but I still buy Lindt chocolate bunnies (and sometimes a bag of chocolate eggs) for our adult kids. It's the nicer chocolate and not so kiddish. We don't make a big deal over it, but they would miss it if I didn't. :)

I still make a basket for adult DS & don't plan to stop as long as I'm able. He's had the same basket his entire life. I just keep refilling it. What used to be a blue basket is now natural color . The paint is long gone.

I was on the fence about making baskets this year. My kids are 24 and 26 and live in a city 1.5-2 hours from us. We won’t see them this weekend because DH and I are going to Florida for a beach vacation. But then a couple of days ago, DD said she was coming home this weekend to see her boyfriend, who lives in our city. So when I was out running vacation errands yesterday, I got Easter basket stuff. I made 3 - for DD, her boyfriend, and DS. My DD will deliver DS’s basket to him in a few days. They contain Lindt bunnies, M&Ms, Reese’s cups, peeps, gummie bunnies, other hard candy, Pringles, and Chipotle gift cards!

Oh yeah, I’ll always make them for my kids. It makes me happy. I mailed DD 26’s on Tuesday and have DD 17 and DS 17 all put together and ready to go. Except for when they were little I’ve never used actual baskets. Like mentioned above I’ll get things that are useful later like storage bin, backpack, suitcase etc. usually themed around summer plans. The egg coloring has stopped but I have requests for deviled eggs so I’ll make those.
