As a middle aged adult I took private piano lessons for awhile from the organist at our church. I didn’t learn a lot and stopped taking the lessons as she preferred to chat on the phone during most of my lesson time.
My DH bought a piano for me for my birthday one year, I did use it for awhile as I could play a few songs from a beginners book. But it mostly was a lovely piece of furniture in our family room, and held family photos on its top. Also held half of my village at Christmas time.
Then when our two youngest grandchildren were interested in playing, I gave my piano to our daughter for the kids with the stipulation that if she ever wanted to get rid of it I could have it back. When she got a divorce and bought a house in town the piano only made it to the garage, where it has been for the last 3 years or so. I have been thinking about asking for it back.
