I normally don’t do a Sunday poll, but I couldn’t resist.
The TikTok ban started last night. Around 9:30pm CST my DD21 looked on her app and it was gone. The TikTok ban affects us all differently. For some they could care less, when for others they could be unhappy about this. Let’s talk how this affects you today……

How does the TikTok ban affect you?
Did you make TikToks or just watch TikToks?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I’m very sad about this  . I loved all my Disney, Harry Potter, home decorating, cooking and more TikToks. Watching them was my daily lunchtime entertainment. My DD21 and I send each other different TikToks every day - so much fun for us! My DD21 has always made fun TikToks with her friends and they were so fun to watch. I made one TikTok with DD21 a few years ago - it was a lot of fun and we got some good laughs from it. We still have Instagram, which is also good, but not the same.

I've never done anything on TikTok. But I can see why people love it. It is a way of connecting with many people. I'm not sure if there really is any danger from Chinese spies. It seems like nothing is really private anymore.

I do a lot of social media, but I've never joined TIkTok, watched TikTok, participated, etc. so I dont' care that it's gone. My DD will though. She enjoys it. So many of my younger co-workers watch TikTok for everything, so am sure that'll be a big change.

My DD21 just woke up (she’s visiting for the weekend) and said that her first morning without TikTok was awful. She likes to watch it first thing in the morning, no different than I come on The DIS first thing in the morning.

For all those doing this :rolleyes2 this morning about those being upset, just think about how you would feel if you went on The DIS and it was dark. We’d all feel sad about that  Let’s hope that never happens anytime soon.

Don't care as I have never used it. Most social media sites are useless and new ones come/go quite frequently. Think the world will go on just fine without it. Maybe those tied to it will finally turn off their PC for awhile and go find something else more productive to do.................LOL.

I never had a Tiktok account but I don't think the ban is a good thing regardless.

The ban does not affect me, but I do feel bad for those that used it as a source of income and/or those who loved the site.

I am not into the "influencer" thing, I'm too old for that, but I do enjoy a good laugh thanks to Chef Reactions and Applesauce and ADHD on Instagram.

I am not heartless, I get how people would be sad about the ban.

Never used it. I will defer to the experts on how it is a national security risk. (I have a family member who works in national security) I do believe hacking from hostile countries is a serious threat to many of our systems - financial, communications, and power and water supplies to name a few.

I don’t do any social media other than the DIS, so I haven’t done anything or watched anything on TikTok. Personally I am indifferent about the loss, but I understand that it is a sad thing for those of you who used it. I have seen a lot of social media sites come and go over the years, so I am sure something good is just around the corner. It could be even better than TikTok.

For all those who are whining about the loss about this app… GET USED TO IT! IT’S NEVER COMING BACK!

There are alternatives-Instagram, YouTube, etc that have similar features. I have one. At least we won’t have to put up with this generation’s nonsense and inappropriate trends.

don't care about it never used it and know nothing about it.
Not a social media person at all

DH and I have a side gig as "social media influencers" but we primarily use instagram. Tik Tok was never a big platform for us so we don't miss it. But it's annoying now that the TikTok users are flooding Instagram with their "farewell" posts.

My feelings towards TikTok are kinda like the difference between ignorance and apathy - DON’T KNOW AND DON’T CARE - hahaha

It's literally coming back up right as I type this lol What was that, like 14 hours?
Holy Moly - you’re right!
My lunch time entertainment is back

My most favorite thing on TikTok is A Guy and His Golden. This guy’s videos about him and his golden retriever make me smile ear to ear. He’s on Instagram too.

::yes:: China already has all our info from all the credit card security breaches and lists being sold on the Dark Web. They don't need to do it through TikTok.

What bothers me is that China is being called a "foreign adversary" meanwhile there are no bans on stuff coming out of Russia or North Korea. (I get there is nothing coming out of North Korea due to their own government bans. But, that's not my point.) My point is, why only the ONE ban?

Why hasn't the U.S. banned the dissemination and use of a RUSSIAN antivirus program called Kaspersky? This is an app/program designed to go into every part of one's computer. Talk about giving the Russians the ability to cull one's personal info.

There is more danger coming from the "Nigerian princes" duping and stealing people's money and credit card info. We know those occurrences have happened and are real. Where are the occurrences that TikTok has done the same or similar?

The U.S. has now crossed a slippery slope when our government and SCOTUS can DECIDE and DICTATE what someone does in a foreign country to our liking. When does it stop?

The World Wide Web is called that for a reason. If the U.S. government wants people to stop using TikTok, they should put a banner up warning people about the dangers, similar to the ones on cigarettes. Then let individuals decide for themselves.
