I will probably wear something green and that will be the extent of my celebration. My mother-in-law likes to make corned beef and cabbage to celebrate, but I cannot stand the stuff so I will not be making or eating it.

Never considered having a party, We always wear green though, and I try to remember to wear my big shamrock earrings I got from Avon a LONG time ago.
This year, we'll be in Universal! Will have to remember something green, and see if they're doing anything festive there. Might start our drive home that afternoon after the parks for a bit.

Never been to any St Patrick’s Day celebration. Growing up we always had beef stew on St Patrick’s Day. This year I’ll be trying Corned Beef for the first time. I’ll also wear green to work and play my St Patricks playlist. A mix of traditional Irish songs, popular artists/songs from Ireland, songs about beer, whiskey, etc.

We don’t celebrate. I did enjoy wearing something green on that day in school though🙂

My grandmother came from Ireland and she made this also.

I am a mutt (I have Irish heritage), but I married an Irish Catholic boy. My married last name is the name of a town in Ireland. He may not be 100% Irish due to his mother's side, but his dad's side is 100%.

His dad's side of the family as far back as they know all made it too.

I LOVE cabbage so I'll take any excuse to eat it. I'm the only one in my family who likes it so if I buy a whole head I'll be eating cabbage all week; this is the only time of year besides New Year's that my Publix sells half-heads.

I also love potatoes, but I'm not a big meat-eater, so I think I'll skip the bacon or corned beef. I wonder if there is a traditional Irish dish for vegetarians?

I make my own version of corned beef, potatoes, and cabbage.

Slow roasted corned beef, mashed potatoes, and Martha Stewart's roasted cabbage. My spouse (who is the Irish American) couldn't believe the meal could taste so good. I've also done roasted garlic and dill potatoes for the potato. But, I've never served boiled anything for the meal, even if it might be authentic here or there:)...

We'll be away from home that day; visiting Toronto to see an NBA game. I guess it's possible we may run into some public festivities in the streets there - not sure how big a deal St. Patrick's Day is in that city. :shamrock:
The Toronto parade is on Sunday the 20th, but there are lots of pubs throughout the city that will have St. Patrick’s Day specials on the 17th. :)

Enjoy the game!

DW and I used to host a big party for St. Patrick's day but we stopped for reasons I don't recall (maybe when the DDs came along.) We don't do anything special for St. Patrick's day any longer. Now the highlight for me is getting to do my Lucky Charms leprechaun voice for DGDs.:shamrock:

I will be visiting my sister, so we’ll don our green clothes and go out for lunch. ☘️

I’m not really a party person in general, and especially not for the big drinking holidays like St. Patrick’s Day or New Year’s.

No parties for me, I avoid parties in general if I can. The VFW is having a party and the rest of my family is going while I babysit my young cousin.

My St. Patrick's Day tradition is to make Irish Potatoes. BadPinkTink will be horrified at this. :flower3: You may have seen them in stores at this time of year-coconut flavored creme balls coated in cinnamon to look like little potatoes. The recipe calls for shredded coconut, but my family doesn't really like that so I use coconut extract instead. I've already had two texts from people asking if I'm going to be making them this year.

We will go out for lunch- deciding between 2 restaurants that are offering St Patrick’s Day specials . I will definitely be wearing green.

Lots of Irish-Americans in our area, myself and DH included (both part Irish). I always wear green. No parties this year, though I’ve had my share in the past, mostly at bars/restaurants. There are many celebrations, including local parades and the big one in NYC, which we’ve been to a few times. Love the pipe bands.

I don’t care for corned beef and cabbage. Instead, I make cottage pie, sometimes called shepherd’s pie. (I make it with ground beef; true shepherd’s pie is made with lamb.)

I know there is a parade the first one since the pandemic.

Not planning anything, but I have some Guinness in the fridge. Mom was born in Ireland but I can't stand corned beef and cabbage.

When my mom was alive she insisted on having us over for Corned Beef and Cabbage. I love it. My wife, not so much.

We're going to the Columbus Blue Jackets game, the majority of the fans always wear green St Patrick's Day Blue Jacket clothes instead of the traditional blue team colors. It's always a cool game to see when they're playing at home.
