Every now and then, someone will grab a towel and put it in the wrong bathroom, but each bathroom has its own sets of towels that coordinate with the colors as well as invoking some of the spirit of the tile patterns. We redid all of our bathrooms around the same time and I pulled a little trick to keep me from going batty if towels ended up in the wrong bathrooms. While each bathroom has its own distinct style, the color palettes are similar enough that a misplaced towel will not look totally out of place. The only time where a total mismatch is possible is if someone bathes the dog, uses ALL of the towels, and grabs something I keep in the linen closet for "just in case" moments where functional takes priority over matching.

I have all matching towels in my bathrooms - other than my raspberry colored powder room - I exclusively use white cotton towels (hand, bath, washcloths and bath sheets) in each bathroom because I like to bleach them.

What are we matching to? The paint color? Shower curtain?

The hand towels, guest towels, bath mat and shower curtain match, all gray. The towels I actually use are white. The walls and shower tile are a very pale cream. The floor tile is white with swirls of grey with hints of green.

All of my bathrooms are neutral with neutral towels.
So, yes matching? I use a hair towel that is a soft pink. It’s the only odd one in the bunch.

My full bathrooms have the same color. I read somewhere that having the same color for your bathrooms saves time when doing laundry.

I'll jump in again. We use mostly bath sheets, even though DH prefers regular sized towels. I have 2 very old, light blue, should-be-recycled towels that are my favorites. They dry well, and dry quickly when hung up (but we won't get started on the "how many times do you use a towel" thing!). We have one each of grey, yellow, and tan, and then 2 each of moss, dark grey, and purple. Our bathroom has cream walls with lavender trim work. The main bathroom has cream walls with a light blue trim. The towels in there are mostly character towels... also the wash cloths. I guess it's time to give them up. When guests come, I give them matching towels from our room, not the rando Disney towels in the main bathroom. The only holiday towels I have are dish towels for the kitchen.

All matching towels here, regardless of size or type. I often wish I could buy non-matching towels as I see so many nice ones, but i just can't do it 😂

I do not have all matching towels, but my bathrooms do have a color theme -- two are turquoise, the master is purple, and the last one is pink and black because my granddaughter uses that bathroom and those are her favorite colors.

Well, are they the same color? No in two of our three bathrooms. Are they color coordinated? Yes. No orange or yellow towels mixed with blue towels.
My wife and I came from different decorating experiences. I grew up in a house where every room was painted a different color and accessories in them matched the color.
My wife grew up in apartments, with white walls where nothing matched. When we first got married we rented a brand condo with everything painted white. Drove my wife nuts because it reminded her of the years her mom had no money and they had to rent. I found white (textured) walls refreshing. Clean, everything worked with it.
So when we bought our first house, it had a hodge podge of wall paper, grass cloth, salmon colored walls, yellow walls. All colors my wife and I did not like. But she refused to allow me to paint ANYTHING white. And she gets the itch every 10 or so years to repaint things a different color. So far, after a complete interior remodel complete with professional painting 12 years ago, all the painted areas are clean and show no signs of wear so no physical need to repaint, but she has mentioned repainting the powder room. The one concession she has made to me is the Family room has wood paneling. I have lost track if wood paneling is currently in our out of fashion, but after 40 years it still makes the room feel warm and inviting.

I always put a gray hand towel in the powder room downstairs because it matches that decor. For the two bathrooms upstairs the towels do not match each other or the room half the time.

Grew up with a family of 6 and 1 full bath. Everybody had a different color towel, it's how we could tell whose was whose. Today I have 2 full baths for 3 people but still couldn't care about matching towels.
