I used to iron everything before I put it on. Even jeans so they would be softer. But for some reason, when we moved to this house in 2018, I started ironing everything.

I will only iron now if absolutely needed.

I voted no, but I may have pulled out an iron once or twice in the last 3 years. I have never been much for ironing, worked in a lab wearing casual clothes, hang DH's shirts right out of the dryer and they are fine. I used an iron back in the days when I was sewing to set seams.

Funny story - my mother-in-law was a chemistry major at Purdue in the 40's. The women had to spend a semester living in a house learning housekeeping tasks, including ironing!

Where does she plan to work that OT's wear scrubs all day? Maybe in a hospital setting, but not around here. I've had reason to interact with many different OT's over the years and I can't think of a single one who wore scrubs -- not even the OT who met with DH (and I) in post-op after shoulder replacement surgery. They all wear regular street clothes.
She'll probably work in a hospital setting.
She's shadowing at a local hospital now and all the OTs (techs and doctor) all wear scrubs.
She is going to school for her doctorate, so it'll probably depend on wherever she works.

I haven't used an iron in years! I have a professional grade clothes steamer and it takes out wrinkles and makes sharp creases in seconds. Very quick and easy to use.

I supervised the ironing (and steaming) of a straw hat today. Does that count?

I'm not a fan of ironing. There are worse jobs, I guess, but I still iron only the necessities.

Have you noticed how if you leave something hanging somewhere while it waits to be ironed, after a while it no longer needs ironing!! 😉 I discovered this when at uni!!!! 🤣

No ironing here. If pants and shirts are of the ironing type, they go to the cleaners.

I don't iron. Anything. I have a steamer I use rarely if something is wrinkled or needs a refresh. Haven't had an ironing board or iron in more than 10 years probably come to think of it. And no, our clothes aren't a wrinkled mess. I fold clothes right out of the dryer using a folding board or hang right out of the wash for things that don't go in the dryer.

I used to send my dress shirts to a laundry to be washed and pressed. I’d wait until there were 10 to 12.

Never iron, don’t even own one. My drier has a “dewrinkle” setting that I use if needed. My moms always amazed by this, she can’t understand how we’re not all wrinkled messes all the time lol

I rarely iron. I will toss something in the dryer to de-wrinkle it.

My neighbor loves to iron. She irons her sheets and pillow cases. She says it relaxes her and she looks forward to it!

I iron much, much less now that i'm retired. When I worked and was in the office it was business casual and i wore dockers and a dress shirt which I ironed daily. Traveling for most meetings required a suit so I would have those dry cleaned except for the shirts that I ironed in the hotel room.

Now I iron only if something is really wrinkled. I don't like going out in public with wrinkled clothe. I got that from my mom who always looked impeccably dressed and wrinkle free when she went out.

I just don't know how you all have such wrinkle free clothes. I even by "wrinkle free" shirts and they are wrinkled.

I wash most of my stuff in cold water and everything is hung to dry. When I pull it out of the washer, it is visible wrinkled. Very few things do I put in the dryer, but crummy sweats, underwear, socks, any PJs are in the dryer. I even air dry many T-shirts so they don't fade and look bad (and they last me a LONG time that way), but everything is pretty much a wrinkled mess.

Ironing clothes for myself I can't remember the last time I did. I wear mostly t-shirts and am home so I really don't care if I'm a little wrinkled. I have a teeny-tiny little iron for ironing seams when I'm sewing something, but I haven't done that in a while, either.

I can't stand ironing. I iron only when absolutely necessary. There are a few dress shirts that need to be wrinkle free. But, I've switched to a handheld steamer that works adequately enough for thin to medium weight clothes.

The trick with a steamer is to spray starch on the clothes as they come out of the washer. I hang them up and let them dry. Then I steam them after they are dry. The steam will take out the wrinkles and the starch helps them stay wrinkle free and have some body. When I used to just steam the clothes with no starch, they didn't have enough body and would wrinkle again when worn.

I don't tumble dry much either (mainly underwear and towels). As I take clothes out of the washing machine, I give them a shake/snap; lightly follow the 'reshape whilst damp' rule and then they dry on hangers on a laundry maid. It works for most clothes.

That't a good tip, thanks for sharing! I'm going to give that a try soon.

I haven’t used an iron in many years. And the last time I used one was to heat up the glue on a laminate counter top that was loosening. It worked very well!

After I answered yesterday that I dislike ironing and rarely do, I ironically spent several hours ironing shirts in the afternoon. Away for my daughter’s sport and the parents all ordered shirts with their daughter’s faces on them. They were shipped in tiny little zip bags and then packed for the trip so yesterday we noticed that they were all a mess. Our rental house is well stocked and had a decent iron and mini ironing board and I ironed all the shirts. That’s enough ironing for me for at least a decade or two.
