The local news just said it’s global unplugging day.

Would you be able to spend an entire day without your device(s)?
What devices do you use daily?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..No way :sad2:
I could spend an entire day without checking my social media, but not an entire day without my phone. I would have a lot of anxiety all day that my DD19 or my parents or my in-laws were trying to get in touch with me and couldn’t because my phone is off. If we still had a landline with a voicemail, then I wouldn’t feel so nervous about someone needing to call if there was an emergency.
The devices I use every day are - iPhone, Apple Watch and IPad

I have had to when our power goes off so no I wouldn't do it voluntarily. I use my dinosaur/desktop computer. My cellphone I mainly use to text once in a great while and as a camera.

I could but wouldn’t be happy about it - I would miss the DIS / News / Instagram / friends but it’s one day and I’m old enough to know a time before we had all this so I lived through it then
I remember an ice storm a few years back - about 4 days no power no internet etc with two teenagers - we made it through - but it was rough for the teens as they had not experienced that before - amazing how big a part of life these items have become

No, can't, or won't turn off the devices, but maybe will make a bigger effort to spend less time on them today. Gotta have my DIS!
We're also under wind advisories, they even cancelled school, so will be having news or something on for that today. Also, will be starting work soon, which is totally done on a computer.

I don't think I could do it unless my whole family was home with me and I knew what they were doing. too much anxiety about there being an emergency and me missing it/not knowing.

I could.....but unless the power goes off, I won't.
I use a phone, a Kindle, computer everyday.

I enjoy my devices but would easily give them up for a day. My family has a cabin in the middle of nowhere that we use as a getaway. No cell service, Wi-Fi, tv etc.

So while I take great advantage of technology most of the time it isn’t difficult for me to step away from it, either.

Never heard this was a thing until you mentioned it here. My life doesn't revolve around my cell phone so no big deal to me. Mostly use my PC to do email or shop or read various news articles. What is the point of giving up all of your stuff for a day or what does this accomplish?

I could give them up for a day. We do have a land line.

I read actual books, and have three from library so I could give up my iPad and iPhone.

I could not. I use my cell phone for two factor identification to log into my work laptop. My cell is how my daughter at college calls/FaceTimes us each day. I use my banking apps, insurance apps, etc. regularly. I’m on my cell phone a lot!

I use my Ipad to listen to books all day long. Giving up time to check on family on FB or email, I could do for one day.

I'd would just to to sit all day with 3 cups of coffee and read one of the dozens and dozens books we have. Read, nap, read, nap. sounds good to me.

I could do it for a day but I wouldn’t want to. I pretty much use my iPhone and laptop everyday. I have a landline so I wouldn’t have to worry about missed calls.

I could ditch my TV before being able to keep my phone off or out of my hands for an entire day LOL!!

Happy Friday all!! :happytv:📱

We could manage.
We have a landline so there would be no anxiety about not being reachable by close family when we are at home.
A number of repositioning cruises such as transatlantic or transpacific ones lose internet and phone signals for a few days every trip so we have been offline a number of times.
The only social media we use is the Dis anyway and we could soon catch up with Slo's polls!!

I could and do unplug, but not on a work day. I know work schedules vary, but shouldn’t Global Unplugging Day be on a weekend?

Right, exactly. I could, but not on a work day. I've already been doing some work emails! If it were Saturday or Sunday, yeah I probably could. Would I want to? Probably not.

I use phone and DT every day . I use both for many things. We still have land-line. I suppose I could but would not want to.
