 Hip Hip Hooray! It’s Paczki Day!

Yes, I have done this subject before on Fat Tuesday, but I just can’t pass up doing it again. Maybe some of you tried a Paczki since the last poll, and now have an opinion on them. For those that have never had a Paczki, they truly are wonderful and you should give them a try today or another day. For those that are wondering, you can buy Paczkis at many local grocery stores in the bakery section or local bakeries. We have a local bakery that makes them for today only, and the place has a line that makes WDW lines look like a nothing. I’ve always wanted to try their paczkis, but I don’t have the patience to wait in a line like that. It is raining here in NW Indiana this morning, so maybe this is the year to go there and try one :scratchin If you don’t know what a paczki is, then here ya go…..

So now, onto the poll……

Will you be eating a Paczki for Fat Tuesday?
If yes…..what type filling will you enjoy?
If no……will you be enjoying any other Fat Tuesday treat?
(multiple choice)

For Me……I normally don’t eat a Paczki for Fat Tuesday, but this year I think I will. The grocery store that makes the best ones are close to a doctor I’m seeing this morning, so I may stop and get my boss and I one to eat after lunch. When I do get my Paczkis, I will be getting either Bavarian Cream or Lemon. I normally don’t like the extra calories, but I’m going to be eating so many extra calories soon that I may as well start early :rotfl:

I will not be partaking of one today but I have had them in the past and they are a nice treat!! Enjoy your special fat Tuesday treat today SLO!!

I'm pretty sure I'd like them [DUH!!] but have never seen them in our area. My sister has lived in NOLA for decades, so we pretty much celebrate Mardi Gras with either jambalaya or gumbo, and, of course beads (unless we are AT her house, IN the french quarter, on Fat Tuesday)!

I have never had one and a regular doughnut is fine with me.....although I really don't eat those either

Never even heard of them and haven't seen them in the stores in my area. I don't think I'd try one if I did, they look a little too sweet for me.

Paczkis are a big deal here in the Chicago area. There is a huge Polish population here, including my relatives. I've had paczkis before and I love the fruit filled ones.

ETA: We bought some at the grocery store today. :)

I don't think I've ever had one one, and don't plan to go searching for them today, but I would probably try one if the opportunity just popped up.

I am making pancakes today, though.

Never had one but I'd be willing to try. I don't know that they've been a thing in the various places I've lived.:)

I don't do any of the "OMG EAT ALL THE THINGS" on "Fat Tuesday" because best grow spiritually in Lent by taking on something (this year it's a special study of 2 books) rather than giving up something (which let's be honest...most of what people "give up" they could do without anyway without it impacting their lives). So there's no need to go overboard "stocking up" on anything.

At some point during Lent, I'll probably have one or two - but all the best bakeries that make paczki's are just too busy today to go anywhere near. The most popular one in our area opens it's doors at 5am and have lines wrapped around the block all morning. I don't have that kind of time on a Tuesday.

Grocery stores all have them, but they're a pale comparison to the ones found in the ethnic bakeries. Those are pretty much just jelly (or cream) filled doughnuts.
