Hi!
We are staying at the Yacht Club in March and I just saw that the big slide will be closed for refurbishment starting this month. Does anyone know how long that will? And if it is closed, which I assume it will be, are there any other slides that will be open at the pool? My kids are 5 and 7 so a small slide would be great. Thanks.

Unfortunately Disney has not provided an end date or ending timeframe to the closure. The slide closed 2/16, FWIW. Disney slide closures don’t tend to be all that long, 1-2 months if that, but of course we don’t know the nature of the work involved and if it’s extensive or not.

There are no other slides at Stormalong Bay or the three YC/BC leisure pools. There is a small baby slide at the small pool at the base of the Flying Jib slide entrance, but it has been reported that it is currently closed as well (presumably part of the overall slide work).

Hope that helps.

Hmm... I wonder if its worth looking into another resort or if the pools and lazy river are enough?!

Everyone is different and will have different priorities/perspectives, but if this were us, I would actually be happy the slide would be closed. 🤣

Mine are now 10 and 6 - over the years my biggest ‘complaint’ about Stormalong Bay is that the slide entrance is outside the pool entrance and that it dumps out on the far side of the pool from where we normally like to sit (the sandy kids area).

We let our 10 year old go by himself now, but for years we’ve had to go with them both since we just weren’t comfortable with that much distance/length of time to be out of sight. While I’m all for hitting the slide over and over with them... sometimes us parents just want to sit back, watch them in the pool, and relax. That can be harder to do at SAB given the slide setup.

While we would miss it, ultimately mine love all of the other parts of SAB just as much, so it wouldn’t cause us to change resorts.

Others will probably disagree!

Thanks for the input! I'd be the same - walking them to the slide every time so that wouldn't be that fun for me ;)

We are considering staying at the GF or Riviera for their pools but I"m tempted to just keep the reservation for Beach Club.

If you think you will spend a lot of time at the pool, I would consider switching resorts. SAB is big and meandering. The "lazy river" is quite deep and is really just a circle. Without the slide, IMHO, you just have a pool (there is the sand-bottom shallow part, however). The GF and Riviera pools are more conducive to younger children, IMHO. I'm not sure what type of villa you are considering at RIV, but if something at BWV would work for you, that is also a nice pool and has a great slide. What is really nice about the BWV/BWI slide is, as a parent, you can stay on the pool deck and see your child the entire time as they walk up the stairs and wait for the slide.
