Has anyone done the holiday sleigh ride at FW? I see online it takes you through the 'forest', but we were hoping it took you THROUGH the campground to see the decorations. Thanks!

We rented a golf cart one year to drive around and check out the decorations. It was fun. Don't know about the sleigh ride.

We did this last year. Great fun! It's a real sleigh with runners ... And wheels. Our driver was fairly knowledgeable about the campers and pointed out specifically who took first place, second place ect in the decorating contest. Some of those campsites get pretty elaborate! We did make a loop through the campground. Call and make reservations though. Don't chance a walk-up or you will likely be disappointed.

Thank you so much!!! Knowing we go THROUGH the campground to see the displays, I will definitely be reserving.

We love to rent bikes and ride around the campgrounds. Halloween and Christmas bring out the decorating skill for those people!

The campground is also a good place to picnic. We love picnicking (is that how you spell that?) at disney.

Was it about $50. to do that? You don't have to be a guest at the resort? I've always known you could rent golfcarts there, but I never thought about doing that . . . what a great idea!!

No you do not have to be a guest, and right, it was about $50. We drove all around FW a number of times. We went right at lunch and had our picnic pretty quick then hung around there until dinner time where we ate at the buffet (name is slipping my mind right now). We weren't just driving the whole time, we made use of several rocking chairs too. It was one of those offbeat ways to spend an afternoon at disney.

Our first trip to disney together we had a crazy idea to picnic out on the boat at bay lake and now picnics are a regular thing for us. I have no idea where will picnic in November but I am sure we will find an interesting destination.

A tip for people staying at VWL, FW's store has the largest selection of groceries of any disney property.

Thanks for the info. :flower3: Just to clarify, and I so hope I don't sound stupid , can you drive around in the golf cart at night, because that's when I would want to see the Christmas decorations.

It is a 24 hour rental and you can return it anytime in that window without the need of a CM. Just park it in the drop off area they tell you and drop the keys in the box.

This is why it is nice to be a DVCer. Sure we are not having experiences that are totally unique but if you make a list of all the things you can do at disney I am sure DVCers can check off more than most.

Does anyone know if the sleigh ride would be offered between Christmas and new Years?
