What has your 2-3 year old found to be the most comfortable way to sleep while at WDW? DW, DS, and I will be on our first ever family trip to WDW. We are adopting DS and he should be home with us by April. We are heading to WDW in June-July and are wondering what will be the most comfortable sleeping arrangement for him. Bed w/ bed rails, crib, rollaway bed (closer to the floor), etc. Any input would be greatly appreciated.:)

When our DS was 2 1/2 we got a crib at the Poly. He was clearly too big for it, but insisted on sleeping in it. He was still in a crib at home but the cirbs in WDW are not as big as regular cribs. 6 months later he slept in the middle of the double bed by himself at POR.

We put him in the bed closest to the bathroom.

I would suggest getting the crib & the bedrails and playing it by ear.

Thanks for the reply. Is it easy to get the crib and bedrails at VWL and BWV? Is the crib different than the Pack and Play that is usually in the room anyway?

We just requested the crib when we checked in and it was in the room before we were. At the Poly is was a mini crib but at the All-stars we got a pack n play twice. They told us it's really hard for a big resort like the all stars to store the cribs, but I think you kinda just get what they give you.

You can have them put the request for the crib & bed rails on your reservation and they just ask again when you check in. You shouldn't have a problem.

We started traveling with the Kids Aerobed around 2-2.5. DS was out of his crib at home (right on his 2nd birthday - he climbed out not 4 hours after me telling the pediatrician how much he loves his crib and how I'm sure he won't try climbing out for a very long time...right!) Anyway, it has worked well for us - no worries about falling out or anything.

I think I would definitely play it by ear. My kids sleep with us when we travel. DH and one child in one bed, me and the other child in the other. Now that ds is getting closer to 3 we might put them both in the same bed. My kids would not sleep in the pack n play. Depending on your little ones size, he might not be comfortable in one.

Congratulations on your upcoming adoption!!! It's how we started our family almost 10 years ago, and things haven't been the same since:yay:

Sometimes it's cultural. If possible, check with your agency and see what's common. Our son is originally from Korea. We were warned that he might be more comfortable on the floor in the beginning. (He spent 2 solid days in my arms, then was fine with the crib/pack & play/ stationary walker.)

If he arrives in April, you'll have a good idea by May. I would imagine that it will be plenty of time to order whatever you need. You could always get bedrails at the last minute if necessary and either bring them along or have them delivered.

Best wishes, and hang in there. The waiting was brutal!!!

DD2 slept in a crib at home and a pack n play at the WL last January. If your DS is used to a crib, I would stick with a crib. I just think that the little ones feel more secure and they are so much safer (not wandering around a strange hotel room in the dark) when contained (crib or pack n play). DD will be 3 when we go in January, she is still in a crib at home with no sign of change, and I'm considering getting her one at the resort (ASMusic).

If you need a full size crib, check abbf.com for renting.

Congratulations!

I can't belive I'm even admitting this..but here goes. When I first traveled with my 2 little ones who were 1 and 2, I didn't know what to do, about the sleeping arrangements. They both fit in bed with me, but it was a little too cozy, and I didn't trust them to be in the bed alone, I was afraid they would fall out. So I used to bring our thickest blankets from home, and I made them up beds on the floor near the bathroom. I would let them fall asleep in the regular bed, and then move them when they fell asleep. It worked out great back then, now that they're 4 and 6, we take turns to see who sleeps with mom, and if grandma comes with us, they beg to sleep with me, cause grandma snores...:lmao:
