Skycot with VA

Today I rang VA and requested a Skycot for our flight. DS will be 14.5mos and a lap passenger. The thing is I have two bookings - one with me, DS, DH, my parents and my sister. The other with my aunts family. The rep on the phone said it was best to make the request for the skycot as they are not guaranteed but now I'm wondering does it mean our two groups could be completely separate from each other. I guess what I'm really afraid of is if VA only have one seat with a skycot available and I end up minding DS for the entire flight with the rest of my group at the opposite end of the plane!! Does anyone know if this is likely? I'm wondering if I should cancel the skycot request now! Any advice appreciated!

When I phoned and requested a skycot for our Aug flight i asked about seating arrangements and they told me that it really depends on the configuration of the plane and how many skycots are requested. If there are not a lot of skycots requested then we can sit together (there will be 4 adults in our party) but it may end up two of us sitting together and the other two sitting close by. If the conf is such that there are two seats together we can have the two seats with a skycot and two seats behind us. Hope that makes some kind of sense!

At 14.5 mths I wouldn't bother with the skycot. We had one for DD at 9 months but we were in PE and still felt cramped when in was in place. She also only just fitted.

I would rather sit all in one row than have a skycot. In E you can lift the arms up in the normal rows so you could sit him between for a rest.

Thanks guys! I cancelled the Skycot earlier anyway, decided it was better to be seated together for definite than to risk being separated!
