Sky Tower and Passholders

So apparently with the sell of the parks, they've decided to sell over the sky tower and the new charge is going to be perminant unless enough passholders complain.

When I spoke to the manager at the front, she was really nice and even gave me a VIP card for all the rides to skip the queu, and included unlimited rides on tower till june when pass "ends" (i'm on ez pay so it's not ever going to end).

I just told her that it's not right that I bought my pass with that as a priveledge to have it be taken away all of sudden. And there was no warning or notice.

I'm guessing not too many passholders were visiting during spring break. But they're doing a 30 day trial on the new price, and logging all complaints. So hopefully if enough people go to the front to complain, we can have it free again. It shouldn't take you that long, and they'll probably comp you a free ride.

We'll be putting in our complaints then. We love Sky Tower and it broke my heart to see it 3 bucks over Spring Break. We do it every time we go (and it's open) and $6.00 every time just adds up. And for no warning... it just stinks!

Thanks so much for the heads-up about the Sky Tower no longer being free for annual passholders. Would have been quite a surprise when our family of three arrived at the Sky Tower window expecting to ride for free :sad2:

I just emailed Sea World Orlando as well to let them know of my disappointment.

It just kinda stinks that when we renewed our passes back in 2009 it was never mentioned that the Sky Tower 'free' benefit might not be available. I know times are tough and companies/individuals are trying to make as much money as they can -- but customer/passholder loyalty and company integrity (i.e. honoring benefits that were in place when the annual passes were purchased/renewed) are also important.

I really hope that this will just be a temporary change. We really enjoy riding the Sky Tower and look forward to riding it whenever we visit.

"Come fly with me, come fly let's fly away...."

Alisa :)

I just got an E-Mail response from Sea World from my complaint:

Thank you for contacting our SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment. We appreciate your comments as they are invaluable in helping us provide you with world class service.

I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed about the new policy regarding Sky Tower and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Due to the nature of this ride, Sky Tower has limited capacity and requires a reservation from our visitors. In the past, it has been extended as a benefit for our passport holders, but such benefits are subject to change. The ride now offers a discounted price for passport members during peak season and is complimentary during non peak season. I have forwarded your comments to members of our Senior Management Team for their review. Our goal is to make things easier for our guests and we will strive to improve future service as a result of your comments.

Thank you again for contacting us at SeaWorld Orlando and for your patronage. We hope to see you soon!

I plan to log in some more complaints, especially if I visit the park and it's not free for passholders that day,I've had the Platinum pass for 8-10 years,a pass that gets me into any of their Busch/Sea World parks except Discovery Cove and now I can't get into the skytower at my home park,a perk that has always been free,it just doesn't seem right. What I would like to know is what is their peak season,I mean if it's only 2 weeks or so during Spring Break as well as during Christmas and maybe for 6 weeks in the summer then it won't be that bad but I still don't like it.

I have no idea what peak season is... they're always so much slower than Disney.

And just like you, I've had my pass for years, and when I purchased it, It was a perk of having that pass. I told the lady, it's one thing for new members, but what about every one that has had a pass for ages, and that was a priveledge for it? Why do you all of sudden get to change the rules?

 Is it really so popular you need reservations? Especially for a PAY ride?

We have one of these at my home park, Cedar Point, and it is ALWAYS walk on. Relaxing, and a nice view of the park and beach/lake, but I can't figure out why anyone would want to pay either there or Seaworld.

So what is it about the Seaworld tower that I'm missing?

Hope passholders get their benefits back.

I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes or so for the Skytower at Sea World,if it really had long wait times then I might not disagree with the decision as much.

The longest wait I've had, was from the bridge on Dec 28th. And even on that day, it was free.

Most the time, I don't have to wait more than 1 turn. If I get there just after they shut the doors. Some times when they've only had the upper level loading, I've had to wait more than 1 turn. But not terrible, and they could easily knock the line out if they opened both upper and lower levels. One time there was a good size line for upper, and no one wanted to go lower, I was the only one.

So the part in the seaworld rep's email needing reservations was BS. And major BS. um...are they really that dumb to try and pull that excuse off to passholders who know better?

Of the many, many times I've been to Seaworld, there was one (and only one) time that reservations were required for the Skytower. I can't recall what time of year it was, but at the ticket booth you got a slip of paper with a return time on it, much like a fastpass at WDW.
