I love them. You can make these out of any liquid. it's awesome.Popping Boba!
I'm guessing they're trying to go for something that looks alarming- that combination of flesh-pink slush with the bright green boba- to go with the theme. I have no idea what flavours those boba are, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're melon or apple flavoured instead of lime. Edited to add: Actually, thinking more on it, if I had to guess what flavours comprise that drink, I'd say probably strawberry (or strawberry-banana) slush with kiwi popping boba on top.
In any case, if you've never had popping boba, think of them like a really thin-skinned gusher candy. They're pretty good, so I'm really interested to try this drink.
Now if Skipper Canteen has bubble tea too, that will be something...
We have a crepe place (of all things) that sells tea with the pearls, which they call "bubble tea." These days, I'll eat lox and crepes nearly as often as I eat lox and bagels.
If they have bubble tea though that's just plain boring and NOT keeping with the theme as it's modern Taiwanese
Looks like from the wdwmagic article they have something for less adventurous eaters with the Steak with Yuca Fries.
I am waiting for this too. I am at my 180 days and was really hoping they would have something by nowI just hope when they finally do open it up it is not impossible to get into like BOG was/is. Any speculation on if it is QS for lunch if you will still need an ADR?
This may be due purely because it is soft opening and the chef/cooking staff need to perfect the menu as is before taking requests to substitute. The chef is probably trying to drill each recipe into the kitchen staff's heads prior to allowing them to switch/sub out ingredients and sides. He mentioned that the kitchen are being very strict on no substitutions on the food. He also mentioned that the kids menu was ... with no substitutions.
Chatted with my friend today, it seems like the soft opening for the cast went well.
He mentioned that the kitchen are being very strict on no substitutions on the food. He also mentioned that the kids menu was on the adventurous side too, again, with no substitutions. I'm really interested in how that will go over!

I really hoping that was for the soft opening only and won't be a problem later..
Kids can be picky and being able to switch out fries for a fruit cup can sometimes be all the difference in how our meal goes..
That's what I thought too, but he said the servers have all been told to say no to substitutions going forward, unless there is a dietary restriction.
I understand it, especially within the first few weeks, nothing throws off a kitchen like having to change every little detail for picky guests. I also understand that the chefs have put a lot of work into a menu and they've paired certain things for a reason. Having been a Disney server though, I know guests ask for substitutions ALL THE TIME, especially with more adventurous menus. I just wonder if they'll stick to it or have to loosen up a little.
The kids part is what I'm worried about. I will eat anything and DH can work around certain things he doesn't like, but DS is a little harder to please. I guess we'll see once it opens.
