I work at a college and I am astounded by how many students I see every day wearing skin tight clothes. I'm not talking about clothes that are designed to be tight like leggings or skinny jeans - other clothes that are just 1-2 sizes too small.

Do people think this looks good? Are they trying to be attractive? :confused3

It just looks so uncomforatble to me.

Yikes!

I see the same thing. I just think how uncomfortable that must be! How do they get in/out of those clothes without it being an hours long ordeal? I've always worn my clothes to fit in a nicely tailored fashion - not excessively baggy but with enough room to have a little fabric not clinging to me. I just don't want to draw that kind of attention to myself!

Well, there is a difference between skin tight and 1-2 sizes too small. On the right body, skin tight = good. On the wrong body, skin tight = not so good. There is clothing that looks good if it fits your body type. Trying to get into clothing that isn't for your body type falls somewhere on the continuum from clothing disaster to hilarity.

On the other hand 1-2 sizes too small makes anyone look like a sausage breaking through the lining.

The worse thing to me is when the shirts are too tight and short and then you can see their belly hanging out from under it. I think it is a conspiracy in the fashion industry! I mean who decided that shirts and blouses should be so short?:confused3:confused3 I have the same tight clothes argument with my daughter everyday. She's always tugging and pulling things down or up. Meanwhile the clothes that fit right lie in wait in her room until they are too small. I don't get it either. I would rather be comfortable.:thumbsup2

You are absolutely right. I always say just because they make it in your size that does NOT ALWAYS mean you should wear it.

About the tight pants with too short shirt thing- I can't tell you how many times I have done a double take asking myself if a girl was pregnant or just had a gut. Most times it's the latter. :rolleyes1 Too tight low rise pants tend to give a reverse muffin top. :sad2:

I'm willing to bet that a lot of these people have gained some weight, don't want to admit it, and try to squeeze into their old size.

Yeah, that is actually something I have considered. The dreaded "freshman 15" strikes and people don't buy new clothes. I hope that's it because these girls just look so uncomfortable.

That's my bet. Many students don't have extra cash to buy new clothes that fit so they continue wearing what they have.

Leads to a lot of muffin tops.

so ask them!

It is not just college students, I find it with many teenage girls as well. With the fashion of those low rise jeans, unless you have a flat belly, it doesn't look right..These are just my opinions, so please no debates..

As I look out my living room window I see teenager girls who are wearing low rise jeans, and their bellies just hanging over it, and matched with a smaller size t-shirt, well I just don't get how that is attractive:confused3 Maybe I am old, or maybe I am just more self-conscious then most. I just don't think the belly fat should be showing through the t-shirts that these teenagers are wearing today. Like in somebody's post above..sometimes(speaking of women, not so much teenagers)its hard to tell if they are pregnant or just wearing not appropriate clothing.:confused3

I had a friend who did this. She was not thin, but not overweight either. She was perfect for her. However, she had a very warped body image and would wear small clothes because she didn't want to admit they didn't fit. I guess she believed that by wearing them, she would be smaller. :confused3 So everyday she would wear short and low cut shirts causing her tummy and cleavage to pop out (she was well endowed) along with low rise skinny jeans forcing a clump of fat to push up in the back.
By wearing these clothes she thought she was quite attractive

Perhaps they gained the freshman 15 and are still in denial? Gained a few lbs but do not want to re shop just yet?

Too tight never looks good. Eek. :scared1:

I work in a bank call center. We had a business casual dress code. We were lucky enough they relaxed the rules and we could wear jeans, shorts in summer etc. They are now considering going back to business casual due to all the younger girls wearing pants so tight they have the muffin top, the ****s are hanging out the top of their shirts, you can see their thong due to the extremely tight pants or they are just see through. And every single one of them think they look gorgeous.

I think this is pretty common. We went to logo wear and business casual from more formal wear and every couple of months HR has to send out a reminder of what is appropriate. When we have a jeans day the email is one paragraph announcing it and 4 of what is and is not appropriate.

I can see kids not knowing what is appropriate dress for different situations but we are all big boys and girls who are out in the real world and really should know better.

I see some of it on campus, but most girls are in good shape.

The biggest problem is at the mall. Women my age, I'm 44, wearing tight knit shirts that accentuate every roll on their bodies. Some look like seriously overstuffed sausages. It's not a good look. It simply calls attention to those unflattering areas.

yeah that's never an attractive look, when it's like 1-2 sizes too small. i never understand the mentaily of people who wear clothes like that. i swear they don't own mirrors or something....

It could be that they think it makes them look better - when in all reality, it will actually make any flaws stand out more..:confused3
