Arts and Crafts Sketchbooking In The Parks?

I've always wanted to bring a small sketchbook into the park and just doodle what I see. Has anyone tried this? If so, what advice can you offer?

Thanks. While I appreciate the idea, I looked up what you mentioned, and it would only make sense for me if I lived in FL and had an AP. Maybe if I move down someday.
