Size of Different Rooms at Disneyland Hotel

I have my stay coming up, but sister in law just stayed at Disneyland Hotel this week. They were concierge, but had just one annoyance.

The room was extremely small. No sofa bed and the width and length of the room just very small. She showed me pictures, and I agree, it was small. Her room faced Downtown Disney.

My room last year faced the pool (same tower though) and it was BIG! Sofa bed and lots of space between the beds, etc.

What determines how big your room is at Disneyland Hotel? Are the downtown disney view sides all smaller in Adventure tower?

Finally...considering the risk of the extra small room, I am considering changing to a 1 Bedroom Suite, but is there anyway to guarantee Downtown Disney view if you get a suite (or even just Adventureland tower)? If you add concierge services, does the help guarantee you Adventureland tower? I had been excited about the regular concierge room with resort view you can book online as even the hotel admitted to me that essentially guarantees downtown disney since Concierge guarantees adventure land tower on a regular room and the resort view instead of pool takes care of that.

Nevertheless, I am quite excited as SIL loved DLH even compared to their days at the Grand. Just have to decide what room to change to now. The extra small rooms sounds a bit frustrating. I thought the Grand rooms were small enough.

Thanks.

I think they reserve the larger sofabed rooms for parties of 5. We had one in a lower level resort view (over the old waterfall) and I agree it was HUGE. This was before the remodel so I'm not sure if there are any changes since then.

We just got back from a 7 day stay at the Dl hotel. Our room was in the Adventure Tower, facing DTD on the 5th floor. Our room was huge! We had 2 queens, the day bed sofa and requested a rollaway. The Rollaway fit right next to the window and still had plenty of room. When we checked in they did tell me first that they had reconfigured the rooms and some of the rooms are too small for a rollaway. I would just ask when you check in. The Cm did call housekeeping to verify that the rollaway would fit in the room. The room that we had was 2349, right off the elevator :).
We have staying previously in the main tower and the rooms were just alot smaller in general before the remodel.

I've stayed at DLH twice, once in 09 and once in 2010. It was different both times. In 09, we had 1king bed in the main tower (don't remember the name) but the room was in a corner and extremely tiny. It felt like we were in a closet! The next year we had a newly renovated room in adventure tower and it was fabulous!! The room was large and beautifully decorated. And based off the 1st stay, I was tempted not to stay there. Definitely glad I tried it again!!

We stayed June 2010 10th floor concierge level resort view. Huge room and awesome view. We watched fireworks from our room. Floor to cieling windows!

Long story short there is no Guarantee of rooms...
We like to stay in the 2 bedroom suite at the DLH (this type is called a Regal Suite, basically a 1 bedroom suite and you have the second or third bedrooms attached) see this floorplan: http://disneylandmeetings.disney.go.com/dlm/index?id=RegalSuitePage

The tower with the most suites is the Frontier tower (old Wonder). We have done the suites with concierge service a few times and that has not guaranteed which tower we get...the last two time we have reqested a suite with concierge we have been in the Frontier (Wonder) tower...our request both times was Adventure (Dreams) tower with a downtown view, we had a wonderful downtown view from our rooms both times...This November we will once again have a 2 bedroom suite, no concierge, requested Adventure, downtown view...we will see what this time will bring :3dglasses
