Sitting in/observing in child's classroom

Okay, I am curious...
Inquiring minds want to know!!!

What type of alleged (have to make sure I say 'alleged'!) words/behavior are we talking about.

I agree that a teacher would fly-right with a parent in tow....
But, if the allegations are serious, the school should have staff discreetly keep this under observation. (They would not necessarily tell you right away if they were doing this.)

Well lets see...like I said in orginal post, my son is no angel. He has gotten in trouble since Kindergarten for his gift of gab.;) I would never go into a classroom for that.
He is a freshman in highschool, and this is the only class he complains about stuff..
Now, some stuff will seem like a no big deal, but he states it doesn't happen in other classes just this one. Apparently there are other students(Not in my son's spanish class)who will just come in and chat with the teacher during class time. Some other kids will come in and use the computer in the classroom. Apparently her fellow students from other classes enjoy talking to her during their study block time. Again, I know this seems like no big deal. BUT, when is it acceptable for a student/students to come by during a class and say hi to the teacher and have the teacher go into the hallway to "chat"

The other thing that made me really mad...OK..I know kids cheat, not all some do or try to..

My son was caught "Allegedly" with a cheat sheet LOL... I am not condoning my son's behavior. he was not actually caught. He says he was studying with made up flash cards with his friend. See what happened was, it was on the floor between his desk and the desk in front of him. It was my son's handwriting. The teacher did not catch him using it, just found it afterwards..BUT... my son still failed his quizz:sad2: , so either he is just not a good cheater, or he really was using it to study and it fell out..The stuff he had on the sheet he still got wrong. He said he wasn't cheating, and as a parent we want to believe him. BUT..that is not the worst part. Later on in the day, he runs into this other student(Not in his spanish class)and the other guy asks him about his write up(to the principal)about cheating???
HELLO, how does a student who is not friends with my son, know about this???He is a student comes in and chats with the spanish teacher...SO NOT Acceptable to me.My son told me today, they were taking a quizz, and the teacher was at the podium grading quizzes(he wasnt sure if it was from that class or another), and one of the former students was standing next to her while she was grading them.Isn't that a privacy issue. I just dont get why other students are allowed to wander in there at free will???

The problem is, you can't tape someone without their knowledge. Anything that was recorded wouldn't hold up anywhere. I bet a lot of teachers would be able to get good footage if they secretly taped kids doing things in class, that their parents would never believe their little angel would do. Would it be okay to post them on YouTube?

Sorry to say, this was the kids taping each other. This wasn't even about the teacher. Where was the teacher? I don't know? I did see a sub in one video. What I saw posted on youTube was totally how the kids were acting out. No need to hide and tape--these days they put it out there, say it loud and clear and seem quite proud of their actions.

I have no idea what is happening for the OP and her son's teacher but I can tell you, if many classrooms in this country are like the like ones I saw on youTube, I'd hate to be a teacher (well, I'd hate it anyway, but...).

I have a sister and a BIL who are both HS teachers. I can't imagine getting out of bed in the mornings knowing I was going to face what they face daily. Yeah, it is that bad. :scared:

Can I ask a serious question? Why do you want to observe? There doesn't seem to be anything here that you need to sit in a class for. If the admin. is concerned about random students walking the halls and visiting classrooms, they should be the ones to handle it. Are you going to say something when one of these kids comes in?

As far as the computers, I let kids from other classes come in to use my computers all the time. I teach 4th grade and my school goes up to 6th. We don't have a computer lab, so sometimes if a student in 5th or 6th grade wants to do research or work on a powerpoint or type something, they ask if they can use the computers in my room. We only have a few computers in each room so we share. Why is that a bad thing? :confused3

I get the problem with the kids that don't belong in the room staying and hanging around, but again, that should be an admin. issue. Same with the quiz issue. They should be checking up on the teacher and the students.
