Sitting here waiting for news on the storm

Not even raining here. I am at work and the sun was shining brightly this morning. The guy downstairs said they will make the decission later today whether to close early and or close tomorrow. Gonna watch the weather channel or something since its not on every channel it is probably not a huge deal.

Our rains have started and our schools will be closed tomorrow. We are getting the bands & under a tornado warning as well as hurricane warning.

5pm advisory (out early) is showing that the pressure is dropping meaning that the winds can increase. It is 136 miles away from me & NHC is holding its ground stating they feel it will come in more toward the center of the cone as opposed to outer edges. I am basially in the cener and on the coast. I just hope the winds do not increase much more than a 1. A one can do damage though. We are boarding up now (actually DH & DS are). I am doing last loads of laundry in case I have no elsectric.

I guess my trip up to US/IOA to meet my family in Sept is called off now. One of the days I planned on using, I will now be working.....:headache: I just hope that is the least of my problems....

To all of you on the Gulf Coast of FL... hang tight the next 24 hours!!!!:scared1:

aaaaaaaaaaaand they shut us down for tomorrow

Be safe & keep dry!!

All the schools in the area are closed tomorrow...we've had a little rain and some wind but terrible yet.

Same thing over here near Disney (Polk) .. schools closed tomorrow and Wednesday, nothing but alittle rain so far (two rain showers to be exact) .. definitely looks better here then where I use to live though (moved in May) since Homestead is getting a bunch of rain and atleast two tornado warnings.

Its been raining all day down here In Boca, but not to windy.:sad2:

Everyone in the path of the storm stay safe and dry:umbrella:

All of us in GA will keep you guy in our thoughts.

:confused3 They already closed you for Wed! Do they know something that the rest of the State doesn't ;) I guess though with the time frame, they aren't taking any chances. I am thankful we are only going to miss one day (I hope).

here is the 5pm path.. I happen to live just on the red line near where it says Ft Myers (I am in Cape Coral) where it looks as if it makes landfall. I am really hoping that this does not intensify and follow this projected path!

And I'm hoping it will be a lot weaker by the time it really gets into my area.

Woohoo I got tomorrow off work. Get to sit at home and watch a storm. Last hurricane I fell asleep and missed the whole thing hopefully I can stay up this time.

:rotfl: We can't see much thru the boards on our windows. My kids want us to get the hurricane proof windows so they can actually watch it. I told them I can do that or pay for their college... :lmao: we can peak out the door every so often. ;)

How can you sleep?

Keep is updated tomorrow on your area! We seem to be getting just rains so far, but that is what they said. We will not feel the real storm part until tomorrow morning. We are just getting the bands with the rains & have been. These aren't the bad rains yet either. There have been some TS that have cause more flooding in my area than acutal Hurricanes have. My street sometimes flood during a regular storm

Nothing more than a banana wind storm. Ive been caught in scarier storms while driving up to Orlando on the turnpike.

Rains haven't been any harder than what we normally have during the summer here in Broward

We'll see how it goes through the night cause at about 6am YESTERDAY I heard the most god awful Thunder that I only hear during Hurricanes, but the storm wasn't even near us at that point.

If nothing else -I get a day to sleep in :)

The first rain bands are just starting in downtown...we are thinking they will send us home around noon.

We are at the Royal Pacific now (Tuesday @ 11:00 am). Parks are open, boats are running until winds reach 25 mph, 35 mph is when the buses stop running.

Some light rain and are heading out now.

Lou

Still nothing much downtown to speak of but we are leaving work at noon!

Lou -

I used to live in Charlottesville.
:thumbsup2

Talked to a friend in Fort Myers who said it has mostly been a rain event with manageable winds.
