sit n stand stroller for wdw???

Some of you have said that the Sit & Stand is too heavy.
Does anyone have a Joovy Ultralight Caboose? Is it really as light as a single stroller?
I'm wondering if it's worth the extra $ to upgrade to the "Ultralight"?

Looks good! I am borrowing one for our trip. It is either from Target or Wal mart. Will the front seat recline enough for my 19 month old to nap in?

We have used our sit n stand the last two trips and it has worked out great. I'm not sure what we are going to do this one coming up. I had no trouble pushing the stroller with both of them on it at Disney, even though I usually make DH push it. Dollywood with all of its hills was a different story.

The actual stroller is not very heavy...my child on it caused it to be heavy. With my DD3 it was no problem, add the 5yo and I worked off the buffet...of, so DH did!

I have noticed that kids can zonk out anywhere. May not be the most comfortable seat, but totally doable. We never strapped in our DD, but at that age you may want to. Putting on the snack trey would also help keep her in.

2 strollers means 2 adults pushing and 2 strollers to look for when you come back after parking them.:scratchin

We are thingking of purchasing a sit n stand stroller for our trip to wdw in march...just wondering if anyone had used one before and how it worked out...

How old are your kiddos? I bought one for our last trip, and it worked great. I had DD (17 months at the time) in the front and DS (6 at the time) rode in the back when he wanted or I wanted him to. The front seat doesn't recline very far, so I'm not sure how it would work for a child over 2 or so, however I saw on here not to long ago a person who I want to say had her 5? year old in the front. They took the cup holder and foot rest off, and she said it worked fine. I really liked it and will use it again.

It doesn't recline far, but my 17 month old napped in it just fine.

We bought a secondhand one from Craigs list for $50 and it was SO worth it!! It's a bit heavy but it was very easy to manouver on the parks and getting on/off the bus. Our 17 mos. old napped in it daily and our older two boys took a load off every afternoon. We also had plenty of room for our diaper bag, backpack, baby backpack and misc. other things. And the cup holders were perfect for us, too. :goodvibes

I bought a sit N stand at a rummage sale. I also have seen them on clearance recently at Shopko for $60-pretty good deal. Also on clearance at Target but not as good of a deal.

The front seat does not recline much. Most kids can still sleep in it but if you have a child who is picky about sleeping positions, it may not work for you. The shade is small-I brought along large safety pins and used them to pin a blanket over the front for when my little one was sleeping.

It holds more weight than posted. I had all three of the kids on there at times and had no problems.

It worked great for me at WDW. It folds up well for the bus-still big, but not bad for a double stroller.

That's me. My DD3 slept in the front and DS5 fell asleep in the back without falling out. I read comments about the footrest falling off (especially in AK) so never put it on (did bring it) and both kids did fine. Also, we wanted easy in and out for DD so never put on the snack tray.

DD was not straped in and didn't fall out. DS is leaning over the shade which is pushed all the way back. I guss another option would be for DS to face forward with feet in the storage basket.

My oldest will be almost 4...he weighs about 39 lbs and my youngest will be 8 months, but he is big for his age. At his 6 month checkup he was 21lbs 15oz so who knows how big he'll be by the end of March! :lmao:

We have a sit and stand. I am not however taking it to Disney. We did last year and it worked fine with ds#1 being 5 and ds#2 at age 2.

With the baby this year there is absolutely no way it will be comfortable for him to rest and sit up front. He will be 8 months old when we go to Disney.

I rented a double citi mini jogger from orlandostrollerrentals.com it will cost us $90 for the week and will seat all three of our kiddos.

I also plan to have my hotsling for hip carrying and I have a beco butterfly II which he can front and back carry on.

mom to 2 - good question! I was wondering the same thing!

mlynn-
I have read that the sit & stand fits only up to 40 lbs. (for the child in back). You said your kids are 6 & 4 - do they fit well in the stroller?
I was just worried that my 4 year old would be cramped in the back.

Sorry took me a few days to get back to you. My 6 year old fit great she is 46pounds but it was worth it when she was tired. So your 4 y ear old should be fine.

With those ages, I think the sit n stand would work great for you. I know the front seat doesn't look like it reclines far, and it doesn't (that was something I was worried about) but my DD (17 months at the time) slept in it fine many many times during our trip. Also, my 6 year found ways to fall asleep in the back without falling off:upsidedow

First, let me start by saying thank you, I have been wondering the same things!
and This has been great to try and figure out what I should get.

Here is my question to add:
How are they for the bus system? Fold up easily and How heavy once folded?
I will be doing a solo trip with 4 great children, but at the end of the night, I need to be able to have dd17 or ds13 get this on the bus for me, neither are wimps but the ones I have folded and tried seem pretty heavy.
Thanks!

Great ideas coming here. Thanks for sharing it. I'll better for it and used for our next trip.

Have a nice day everyone. :)

We used it last Sept. on the buses, and it wasn't that bad. Granted no stroller is fun on the buses, but I think it was about the same as when I took our regular single full size stroller a few years earlier. I'm thinking it may be a little heavier, but nothing a 17 year old couldn't handle;) I thought it compacted very nicely- although there's a way to do it, because I was confused at first. You have to roll the stroller back right before you collapse it (so the wheels go the right way) and pull the visor thing down towards the back. Whoever is carrying the stroller will probably always have to stand though. A good place I found was by the back door, because once it's closed you have more room for the stroller. Good luck!

We bought a Joovy Caboose specifically for our 2006 trip when ds's were 6 and 3. After looking at both the Caboose and the Sit and Stand, I thought the Caboose was better quality. It worked great for my boys, who at the time had a combined weight of approx. 70-80 lbs. It also had a nice basket underneath for carrying our necessities and mesh pockets on the back of the seat for small items to keep close at hand. I actually sold it to a friend for her trip the next year and she loved it also.

We have a Baby Trend sit and stand and we used it at Disney last year. (We purchased it for our trip) My DD is 4 and DS was 7mo. It worked Great. DS slept fine in it. it has a 5pt harness int eh front so even though it does not lay flat he was held in place fine. The shade is not enough to cover him while sleeping(and keep him out of the sun) so I got a few clothes pins and pinned a receiving blanket and pinned it on the shade to have it cover him completely while sleeping.

I am not sure if we are taking it this year. Only because DS is so much bigger but needs to nap. I am not sure he will comfortably nap in it. I will have to try it out at the mall and see how he does.

ETA: We used the disney transportation on our visit and it was fine. Plan on you handeling the kids and bags and DH handeling the stroller. There is NO WAY you could do it alone. And practice folding it up. We found that you have to flip the shade all the way back and have the wheels in the right position to get it to fold easily. After a few dozen times it is easy.

Here are a few pics. My DD is about 38-39 pounds and DS was a Chunky 24lbs (7mo).
