What I do not understand is where the illegality comes in. They are not officially married. The only one really married to Cody is Meri. No one says you cannot have a wife and three girlfriends on the side and just becuase they view themselves as married they are not in the eyes of the law. Am I wrong did I miss something? I think they only way it can be bigimy is if they try to be legally married.

It depends on the laws in the particular state. In Utah the state considered multiple people living together as married people to be a violation of their bigamy laws whether they had a marriage licence or not. Apparently Nevada only considers it bigamy if they had more than one marriage licence.

The cost of the homes, kids, colleges.. telling mariah she needs a scholarship to go to the college she wants cause they cant afford it... but yet they would consider invitro?!? That isnt cheap. I think if meri wanted another child she would have jumped on it by now.

There s no way the builder would have allowed a small three bedroom ranch.

You are correct BUT in their eyes they are supposed to be one big happy family so legal wife or not then she should be looking toward the greatest need and the greater good. I am not saying this is right etc I am just trying to follow their thinking.

We should take a poll or make predictions how long this show is going to last. Robin has had a baby, Meri is not going to have a baby no way no how. After the whole selfish whining thing I am not thinking she will go for this. They MIGHT play it up for the show. Of course how would we know if the baby is Meri and Cody's OR Robin and Cody's? Then again, mabye one of them will leave and Cody will have to convince her to come back. They have their houses so that crisis is over, the weight loss thing obviously fizzled and no one is chasing them to put them in jail. IF they do not have a hook this show gets old pretty fast. I guess they could play up the bankruptcy OR have Janelle have an affair with ther trainer.

It's a gated community. Kody commented that it's like a compound now because it's surrounded by brick walls. The ladies didn't like that too much.

I wonder what the neighbors think. People sue because their neighbor put up a handicap ramp (another thread) so will these sue because of their property values may suffer with the filming and "famous" family living there

Bolding is mine. I think what they mean is that if she, Mariah, gets to go to an expensive school that it sets the tone and precedent for all the kids to follow. Sure they can probably afford it for HER---but there is no way they could keep it up for all the kids when the time comes.

i mean, they seem like a decent family from what they show on television, but then again i'm sure there's a lot of things that they DON'T show that they wouldn't want the public to see.

i also do believe there is some sort of "brainwashing" going on even if they claim there's not. every once in a while it's almost as if one of the wives "sees the light" but then quickly gets brought back in by the husband.

i completely agree! DH and i were talking about this just the other day. she pouted and acted like a brat for weeks. if she were my child i would have TOLD her "you're acting like a brat, stop it. I'M the one who's going to lose out the most if we don't get this house, so stop complaining and suck it up" i mean come on the girl is 18 i can't believe she acted that way.

and yes i agree. they can't afford to send their kids to college, yet they can buy those big huge houses and try invitro. i mean obviously there's no way anyone could pay for that many kids to go to college, but still...unnecessary to act that way "well you need a scholarship in order to go to school!" when it's clear they could at least help a LITTLE with the financing.

I think an individula can only file every 7 years or 10 years, sepending on what type of bankruptcy.
