Sister Wives

I was thinking Robyn's big dark secret was just that she was in a horrible marriage. Probably along the lines of make sure you pick someone nice, etc etc. She says something about being trapped, doesn't she?

Probably that she had premarital sex.

I'm assuming this as well with the comments about giving her heart to someone she wasn't married to.

They can't afford the houses but Meri has to have a wet bar. And, of course, a library will be great for Christine.

what really got me was she wanted that wet bar so badly...yet they don't even drink! why do you need to have a wet bar in your house when you aren't going to use it?

dauh.... She want it for serving pastries!! (No really, that is what she actually said.):rolleyes2

I haven't watched the show in a while, if I recall correctly she wanted the wet bar AND an extra bedroom and the floor plans only came with one or the other. Did she end up getting both?

I actually think you have that backwards. She wanted a wet bar and the only way to get one is to have the extra bedroom. So I think she has a 5 (maybe 6) bedroom house now.

Wow, that's still so excessive. I remember hearing her whine that she shouldn't be "punished" for having only one child, that if she had her way she'd have enough children to fill 5 or 6 bedrooms. I just think that attitude is so...entitled. As if those of us that can only afford 3 bedroom houses are being "punished!" Since when is a modest-sized house punishment?

I agree, Idk why she was so upset. If I only had a small family I would want a smaller house, especially with what those houses cost. It would have helped save them some money.

OK, I'm playing catch-up on DVR.

Might I just say I'd like to join the people wanting to slap Meri? But I'd like to slap Mariah as well. Those two really come across as so whiny and entitled I can barely continue watching.

I just got to where they are about to move into the 3 homes. And I want to barf at how the show has become "Watch us spend a lot of money building a house." So where on earth does it go from there?

No way the jewelry business will succeed. It might have if they hadn't based it on a theme of "Sister Wives". I can see having a jewelry business. And I can see them advocating for their own way of life. But to expect other people to plunk down the cash in SUPPORT of their way of life....... I just don't see it happening. They just don't understand their viewership. I think people watch out of a morbid sense of curiosity, not out of support for their lifestyle. Those people are not going to start sporting jewelry on their body in support of plural marriage.

And isn't she the only one that went over budget on their house? And then Kody wanted one of the other wives (Christine?) to give her the money she had left over in her budget?

yes, she did! then she cried about how they're basically persecuting her for not having as many children as they did.

at least Christine seemed realistic with her house, saying she didn't need all of the bells and whistles and whatnot. granted i'm pretty sure she got most of them anyway, but she didn't whine and complain like Meri.

I think the point a PP made that Robyn has the same number of kids by Cody as Meri does was very interesting. Has anyone else noticed how often Meri is taking care of Solomon? Or how sad Robyn always looks? I wonder if there's some post-partum depression there. Or maybe just regret that she joined this family of wackadoos.

idk why she'd regret it, she's now a reality show celebrity and has a nice big house all for herself.

now post-partum seems more likely, however she did seem rather emotional before she even had her current baby so i think that's just how she is.

I don't think they truly believe the sister wives thing. The women aren't family. They are 4 women sharing 1 man.

i think they do the "family" thing more for the kids, than for themselves. they'd rather have their kids be happy with all of their siblings than have to deal with each other.

my other question is, do you think they have friends outside of their Sister Wives or other polygamist families? i've never once seen any of them out with a a girl friend just hanging out or anything.

You guys are right in saying this isn't really a Polygamous family in the sense that the viewers were told at the start of this show.

Four seperate homes with the women running their own household and dealing with their own kids. Kody has his harem of baby mamas with more to come no doubt. He has to stoke his ego with his virility.

Did anybody notice the couple of times he mentioned his wives "obeying"?

I doubt it will ever happen but it would be interesting if one or all broke away and opted for traditional relationships where your partner is always there for you and your children instead of seeing him on a schedule.

i've read the book that they put out and Christine does admit that she DID leave for a little while, took the kids with her too. she didn't get along with Meri at all and it's obvious by the show, they barely even speak with each other if you've noticed.

sadly she went back tho, obviously. but tbh she sounded more like she went back because she needed someone else to help out with her kids more than anything else.

and in the first season i think Meri even admitted the only reason she stayed in the relationship to begin with WAS because of her daughter. maybe once Mariah moves out she'll finally get the nerve to leave?

Well, only if she can still be part of the show.

She has to pay for that house somehow you know. ;)

I still have 2-3 more episodes to watch before I'm caught up but I just went to the sisterwife's closet website. They now have some budget jewelry and some designs by Kody that he made for each one of his wive's! Who would want to wear something like that. "Where did you get that necklace?" "Kody made it for wife #3 so she can think of him while he is out spending the night with wife 1, 2, or 4. Isn't it pretty?"
I thought he wasn't going to be part of the business except for in the background? I do remember Robyn having tears in her eyes when Janelle suggested to her that Kody not be part of it anymore.
