Sister Wives, anyone???

Does anyone know if any of them are getting public benefits like food stamps, health care, WIC...?

Just curious since legally, the other wives are single moms.

My DD and I love this show. I really don't have a problem with their lifestyle. It's certainly not for me, but if they go into it of their own free will and they're happy, who am I to judge. Kody had said in an early episode that he has kids from different moms, but together they take care of and provide for them. How many men out there have kids with different moms and walk away from their responsibilities? I can see that their kids might not agree with the lifestyle but that is for them to decide. I honestly don't get a "cult vibe" from any of them. I wish them well.

As for Kody's friend, what an idiot. He spent the entire show preaching about how he's right and Kody's wrong. What a jackbutt. I think he'd better start worrying about his own soul going to hell instead of Kody's. :rolleyes1

This.

It always confuses me when people jump all over this family. This country is swarming with 'baby daddies', who do nothing for their children (or the so-called 'baby mommas'). As odd as this family's situation appears to so many of us, they all went into it willingly and this Kody guy is helping to provide for these women and their children (both financially and emotionally).

Didn't one of these wives lose their job when they were 'found out'? I always wondered, would that company fire someone who essentially lived the same lifestlye without the embracing the term polygamy? Doubtful. What a very strange double standard.

I was just wondering. In either the last episode or the one before, Kody said that he had to cash out his 401K and will be hit with the tax implications. Now that none of them are working (besides the show), I wonder how they can afford medical insurance for 21 people. :scared1: Maybe it's from savings. :confused3

Each wife remodeled a room, Christine's house also got the backyard redone...unless TLC pays for that or they were donated like they did for all of the extras for J&K+8.

I honestly wasn't judging. I was just curious. Janelle talks about having a limited source of income a lot so that is what got me thinking.

Just watched this one and read the comments here. I want to see this show in 10 years and see how we feel about Robyn then! When the new, special and life is a honeymoon phase has worn off, she has 4 or 5 more kids and only gets help from Daddy every 4 days!!! Wonder if she will still be as doe eyed then! Of course my money would be that she would just be whiny.

I was surprised in the last episode they talked about buying a big piece of land and building 4 houses. I thought they really liked the one big attached home thing and figured they would basically build a huge apartment building for everyone. That way they all have their own space again but it is still all totally connected for the kids and Kody to move freely. I guess to me separate houses doesn't seem as connected as a family as one house would be.

I'm not. I kinda like her. I think of all the women, I believe I'd like her and Meri the best. Well, actually I like Janelle, too. I guess I just don't care for Robin. She just annoys me. I don't even know why. :confused3 SHe's not nasty, or rude or anything.... just grates on my nerves.

I actually (I believe I've said this before in this thread) I don't get what the big flipping deal is. There are polygamists who marry children to 70 year old men, forced to stay in the church, and whom collect government money to care for their litters of children. This isn't The Browns.

I kinda, sorta...like them. They seem like good people. I feel bad for them. I find it interesting that it seems the more religious the person they encounter, the more likely it is they will be frowned upon. The un-religious (like myself) say 'To each their own.....' Life is hard enough. If you're happy, then I say "Yay for you!!!"

I can tell you why I dislike Robin... She is too familiar too quickly. It is something I noticed right away because it is something my SIL did too. You do not bulldoze into a family and expect to be the same as everybody else.

To me when you are the new person entering a family, there is a growing period. An adjustment where everybody gets used to each other. As the new person you need to find where you fit in and "earn" your position in a way. You also need to respect that there's a history, a life together that was there long before you hit the picture and that will never go away. There will be a history built with the new person too - but it takes time.

IMO Robin tries way too hard to be an "equal" to the other women. Instead of a melding I feel like she has bulldozed her way there and would love for the life before her to vanish. She wants to be the center of attention, to be the new one, the one he caters to etc.

I also dislike how when they have family meetings with the teens that she slips her 2 cents in. None of those kids are hers. Who cares what she thinks?

Finally I dislike how her children rush to Kody and squeel and call him daddy. They have a daddy, it is not Kody.

Silly things but this is what irks me. She is pushy, she shoved her way into her "position" and THRIVES on the attention she is getting. I really just cannot stand her. I do really like the other three women though.

I'm wondering if the jerky friend was edited to look that way and/or something happened that set him off. I wonder if he felt used by TLC and the Browns. :confused3

Speaking about his friends. I found it funny that one of them kept saying how Kody always wanted to be the center of attention so she wasn't surprised by the choices that he's made. :lmao:

I watched and I have to say Kody's HS friend was a jerk. I know I'm a minority, but their lifestyle doesn't bother me and I like them. I think the name they picked for their son is horrid.

I'm looking forward to next weeks show. I wonder if Janelle will tell us how much she weighs.
I would be highly surprised if she shares her weight publicly, but you never know. I wasn't too surprised by their name choice for the new baby. Many of their kids have very "different" names....

I have no idea...but assuming they get paid from TLC..would they even qualify for those things??
Me too! And I can't figure out the women who want to be with him. Sorry, I just don't get it.
Me either. I guess what bugs me about it all is them getting jealous of the other wives. Isn't this what they want??? So the jealously doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I'm right there with you!!!!! Plus I always want him to stop touching his hair and shampoo it:scared1:

I'm sure you girls have mentioned this but why was Meri just about invisible on the last episode?

Didn't Robyn make some silly comment about how she tries to make her day with Kody special and uses the other 3 days for the routine stuff? No wonder Kody is so goofy and self-absorbed. He is the center of 4 worlds and doesn't have to deal with the day-to-day stuff. That really goes with the "wanting to be the center of attention" comment.

You put into words what I couldn't!! I really hate her kids calling Kody "Daddy". That is just icky to me...and if I was their real Daddy I would be mad. It also bugs the crap out of me when she puts her 2 cents in with the teens....uh lady...they are NOT YOURS!! :confused3

I agree. Also, she has younger children, so I'm not sure where her "expertise" on raising teens comes from. I like the original 3 wives, but Kody and Robyn annoy me.

I feel bad for Christine and Meri putting on all that weight after Robin showed up. I'd probably eat my way into a few more sizes too :guilty:.

I noticed this too! Poor ladies. They have definitely gained a few lbs.

By the way, did anyone notice that the women always have their arms covered? Whenever they have on short sleeves, they wear long sleeves underneath. I was wondering if this was due to the weight or some weird polygamist rule.

It's for modesty.
