Single parents...

I took my daughter once. It wasn't so bad, because my parents came along. Even so, I would definitely do it again with just the 2 of us. Great mother/daughter bonding time. :thumbsup2

I'm a single mom, too. I just took my girls to WDW in November. I completely understand what you mean by your comfort zone, but trust me.... if you give it a try once, you will get over that fear. I had to face that fear this past summer. We always took the kids to Ocean City, MD every summer. I didn't want my kids to lose out b/c of my fears, so I bit the bullet and we went. I drove the 4 hour ride down there and back, and we had a blast. Same with Disney...we flew down ourselves and everything went smoothly. I plan on taking them again Nov 07. Go! Have fun!!

I'm not a single mom, however I've gone to WDW without my DH several time. The first time I brought my then 4yo and my sister met me for most of the trip. The following year we returned and met my sister and my mom, so also had extra adults. In May I brought him back down and it was just the two of us for the whole trip and that was great. Another time I brought my then 11yo (and once my college DD, but that's a little different).

It was tricky when I brought my 4yo and my sister wasn't there. IE, one time we had our food and were eating at a foodcourt and Jake had to go to the bathroom. I found a CM and asked him not to clear the food and we went to the restroom. Things like that were a pain, but a person learns to work around them as much as possible (go to the bathroom before ordering :) ).

At least your kids are a little older. It was much easier going with Jake as a 6yo than as a 4yo. For one thing, he could ride all the rides as a 6yo (and he's a daredevil and did). Your kids are old enough to ride without you if you don't all want to go on it. You can all walk through the queue and can then meet at the exit (works really well at RnR, etc).

Going by myself, with Jake, was out of my comfort zone for sure. I was very nervous about it, but it's very worth it!

Our first trip to WDW was 2 years ago, I was really nervous. I had many concerns about the crowds, restrooms etc. I relaxed quite a bit once we got there and saw with my own eyes plus DS had a cell phone with him :teeth:. I never lost him once. I loss him all the time at home in the stores but never at WDW (Strange I know).

Relax and go and have a great time. By the way we have gone in early May. Maybe that helps with the crowd level too.

Want to tell us exactly what is scaring you? Maybe someone has some ideas that will help.

As far as stepping out of your comfort zone, I totally understand. But, that comfort zone may be comfortable, but it's so restricting. If you never step out of it, you'll never have any fun, or learn something new, or have an adventure.
I know stepping out of the comfort zone is scary, but the feeling I have when I don't get to so something because of it, is worse.

You will have a wonderful time. My first time with just my kids is next summer, but my kids are 21 and almost 15. :)

I took my son when he was 5. It was a great trip and to make it even better it was during Mother's Day. :)

I do not have any negative things to share...everything was great!!!

Have a great time!
