Single Parent "child swap"

The room was behind your bench, literally. That area near the elevator is bacially the overflow area for the Child Swap room, which can get quite crowded. From the bench, if you were to head toward the exit, you'd see the room on the left. :)

However, if you're in the Child Swap room, you might never see me and my pet scarab. :jester:
thanks for that info... I did see a room when I had gotten off the ride but I didn't realize that was what was behind me when I was watching my friends son. She went on with my daughter's & I sat with her son first, then she sat with her son & I went on with my daughters. When we got off , she was on the side where I got off at.. now it makes sence.. yes I am a true blonde LOL Next time I am there I will look for you :wave2:

oh man was that you walking around on Friday July 2 around 9:30 PM or so?

No. I was at school at that date and time. And the other scarab handler (yes, there are now two minions with pet scarabs) didn't get his until the 4th.

Hummm.... ok I guess it wasn't the first time I rode. Must have been the 3 or 4 then. I think it was the 4th right before I headed back to the hotel, so that right around 9 pm. Heck I rode so many times it is running together

Actually, I'm not concerned at all. My boys are tough, or at least they need to learn to be tough. Being left alone will help! Day care at the hotel is too expensive. I'd rather spend the money on myself.

Besides, I've got four kids. If anything happens, I'll still have a couple left. MUMMY RIDE HERE I COME!! WOO-HOO!!!
ROTFL!!:p :hyper:

That's the old gonzo tourist spirit. Thanks for brightening my day.

My husband and I just returned and used the child swap extensively as we had our DS3. Some waiting areas were very busy(mummy) others were deserted(mib, ripsaw falls) and others were within feet of several ride attendants(jurassic park). We always asked how each ride handled it and were shown what to do/where to go. You could see each area and assess for yourself then if it was good enough for you and the kids. Are you staying onsite? If you aren't comfortable with them in these swap areas I think you'd find it wouldn't be too expensive to have them stay in the kids club while you run over to do these rides w/ FOTL access one night.
You know your kids better than any of us could. I know my oldest two would've been fine at 8 and 5, it's just now that they're almost 18 and 21 that I try real hard not to let them be alone in the same room together.LOL!!!!

ajksmom,

Thanks for your response. This reminds me of room occupancy discussions on the DVC board. They can often generate more heat than light. (And yes, I admit, I've been quite the radiator.)

I called the childcare at Royal Pacific. They said they don't open until 5pm Friday and Saturday. The parks close at 7pm. Is two hours enough time to get to Hulk and Mummy both (with FOTL)? I think those are the only two rides that I care to do.

Interestingly, I called USF guest services again to see if I would get a similar response the second time I called. I asked a different operator the same question. She, just as quickly and confidently as the first operator said, "Absolutely." That my 5 and 8 year-olds would be fine if I left them in the swap area. So apparently it's truly the Guest Services party line.

(FWIW, I didn't mention that call in the OP because I thought I was asking a quick question, and didn't care to elaborate, or bias my question with my misgivings. I didn't know this would turn into a two page thread.)

Yes I think you'd be able to ride both hulk and the mummy in the two hours time. The only problem you might run into is if the mummy was down(which was often during our stay). Another idea is if you are there for at least two days go into the parks 1st thing in the am, head right for mummy(UO)/hulk(IOA) and get right in line then check out the swap areas and if you are comfortable using them hop on right away while the line is very short and then they won't have a long wait. You will know when you get there if the situation is one that's ok for your kids. If it's not - let them stay at RPR for awhile one night and go get your thrills!! I didn't personally use the kids club but everytime I walked by it seemed like the kids were having a great time!!
No matter how you choose to do it I hope you get on your rides!!! :wave2:
