Sims2 Players: Baby Problems?

Thanks again Nutsy. I am so addicted to this game it's not even funny anymore. DH just rolls his eyes and last night I came to see if he was OK as he wasn't in bed at 2:00 AM and guess what he was playing?? Yup, the Sims. So he's a closet Sims player.

As someone who doesn't play Sims, reading this thread is hilarious, especially reading it as if they are RL questions and answers. LOL

My kids have played Sims; my son was telling me today that his friend's Sims had a breakdown, and was rocking a bag of flour like it was a baby, and then a psychologist came and just went . LOL

one of my sims had a breakdown too. i'm not sure why, but it was pretty funny. he just sat down on the porch and wouldn't move and a psychiatrist came and shook him and he became happy again.

dzneprincess, about your question on the 3 loves, what you said is correct, you will have it count towards their wants. sometimes i'll have one of my sims at another house and a +3,000 or something of that sort will appear above their heads, it's because they fulfilled something that they wanted. i once had one of my sims propose to a love aspiration sim and he accepted, and then had a -5,000 appear above his head. too bad i just want all my sims to get married all the time...i still haven't been able to figure out how the wedding arch works though. i had a wedding party and everyone was there all dressed up and i had the wedding arch, but i couldn't click on it to have them go and get married there, they always end up getting married in the house, which is lame.

For the wedding arch. Click on it, it will say Get Married. Your sim will head to the arch followed by his/her fiancee & all the guests..........they will change into their bridal attire at the arch & the wedding will begin. Took me awhile to figure out how to work it too. I found out quite by accident......I just clicked on it & low & behold it said Get Married. so cool. Rose Petals fall down on the bride & groom too.

Oh & I had twin boys last night.......here was me saying I'd only ever had one set of twins & they were girls, then I go & have twin boys. When I saw it was two babies, I was hoping it was going to be one of each as I already had 2 boys & a girl, but no, it's two more boys. I so, wanted another girl to even the numbers up. Oh well, guess I'll just have to try again. lol


Do you haver your wedding arch out in the garden at all? Also, make sure you are playing the prospective bride or groom, not someone else in the household. You can always try clicking the area & asking them to go there, but it's not as much fun.

stinkerbelle, I would love the cheat.

I'll PM this to you as well...but I find this cheat comes in handy for other things as well.

do CTL-SHIFT-C to open up the "cheat" window. (it's a plain white box at the top of the screen)

type in move_objects on

hit enter

go into build mode, select the hand, pick up the mailbox, and delete it. (I actually haven't tried this in the Sims 2 university EP yet...but i know it worked with Sims 2)

This also works for "deleting" trash left on the floor, stinky plates, trees that are in your way...you can basically "move" (or delete) anything in OR outside your property grid.

So I played with the University EP yesterday for about 8 hours...(DH thought I died upstairs or something.) Funny...one of my male Sims likes to skinny dip. Every time he gets in the hot tub...he's nekkid. hehehe

Ok, another dumb question, but how d oyou have babies? I hit the Try for baby option and they go under the sheets, do their thing then fall asleep. How ould I know if a baby was successful?

my wives always throw up and after they throw up they have a baby bubble over their head with a ?mark in it. and i think in a day or so they should be get bigger

After they "do their thing", lullabye music will play if they were successful in creating a baby. Some Sims have to do it alot to become pregnant, while with others it happens every time they "try for baby".

yeah, i usually have the arch in the garden, and i'll throw the wedding party, but it will come up with the "there are no options" or whatever for the arch, it's totally the weirdest thing ever. i hope it'll work some day, i'm totally jealous that it's not working for me.

the throw up thing with the baby question mark above the head doesn't always mean that she's pregnant, i have one sim who comes over my other sim's house all the time and throws up and has the baby with the question mark over her head, but she's never tried for a baby with her husband. apparently she has food poisoning that is being stubborn and not going away... someimes it really does take a long time for the sims to become pregnant, i usually have to have them try for a baby more than once.

i play this game too much. haha

So, if the SIM did get pregnant, I will know, right? I wont be left guessing? Also, if a preloaded SIM dies there is no way to get it back? I had a perfectly healthy SIM dies just a few days after she became an adult. Her meters were all green. I am still confused about that one. Than Don Lothario died in a fire, because he would not extinghuish it or call 911 or run out. I also had one die but taht is because I forgot and left the game on. I came backc 30 mins later and all her meters were almost red.

you will know the day after the sim tries for the baby if the sim is pregnant. her belly will plump out. it usually occurs in that that little box that shows important actions in the bottom right hand corner, so you shouldn't miss it.

if you don't save the game, i'd imagine that's the only way to get a sim that dies back. i've read where some sims have heart attacks and die, someone said that their sim died when the sim was playing with the child on the floor. i guess it's just maxis's way of making life realistic? you never know what's going to happen.

i'm so afraid of playing my older sims because i don't want them to die. although, i did make myself and for some reason when i grew old i looked like an elf. my ears were pointy, which they weren't when i was a younger sim. it really freaks me out.

Not all my Sims have thrown up when they get pregant either. I usually listen for the lullaby music after they've "done their thing" & then I know. If I miss the music, I just get them to try again & you can tell by that if they are already pregnant, as they won't be able to "try for a baby".

I've only had trouble with one couple getting pregnant & that took about 4 tries. Most of my couples get pregnant first or second try.

Also if you are not sure if you've been successful, try getting her to get in the hot tub. If she doesn't get in, she is pregnant, as they can't get in when pregnant.

Regarding the Wedding Arch. I've had a thought on why it may not be working.


If your Sims propose marriage before going to the arch then there will be no options for the arch. They need to be engaged & then once all the wedding guests have arrived & had a dance or two, click on the arch & it should say "Get Married", your Sim(s) will head to the arch. If you only have control of one then you will need to call the other one over.

Once inside the arch they will change into their bridal attire & the wedding will begin.

The mail box will also have no options if there is no mail. Look for the red stick being in the upright position & remember that the bills come Tuesday & Thursday.

Thank you Nutsy! I appreciate all these tips! Keep them coming! LOL I do hear the lullaby music, but nothing seems to happen. I will keep playing this family and see. Also can anyone elxplain to me, in laymans terms (LOL) how I would move my family into a bigger home? Do I have to sell back all their stuff or will they just lose it all?

To move your family into a bigger home, first of all I'd give them more money, so CTRL, SHIFT & C & type in Motherlode a few times to give them loads of money to afford a nice house & furniture.

Ok, now......go the the neighbourhood & select the families button..........then go to your Sims house & you will be given the option of moving this family to the family bin......all their furniture will be sold off which of course adds to their wealth. Then you will be able to move them into a larger home from the family bin.
