Simpsons Now Open

We were just down there this past week and later in the week we saw a billboard for it and it said, Now Open. That billboard remained the same for the rest of the week, but as we drove away from the area, we saw another one that said, Coming Soon.

Edit: There's a little thing at the bottom of the Univ Orlando site that says "Now Open"

Posted this is in the ride review thread, but a radio ad from Universal claims it is now open. That is great... but I can't say I won't be pissed if I show up Thursday and it is closed. I know there is nothing I/they can do, but if it is truly still in previews, why are they letting all this press fly saying it is open?

Yep, local channel 9 just now aired a report on the ride being open, stating the official opening is in May but that the ride is open now. It must just have been yesterday or today that it's unofficially officially open - saw it Saturday and it was still in technical rehearsals then. But all signs seem to point to open!

Yes, the press is all over the Simpsons ride. As far as I know, it's still in technical rehearsal, though. And the wait time is averaging 60 mins.

The universal site says now open and now they have the page description of the ride up and no more fence that was once on there.

Yes, the press is all over the Simpsons ride.

We, in the news media, are often accused of exaggeration, but I must say that, without question, Krustyland is the most astoundingly successful entertainment extravaganza of the century!

This is from the opening page of the 1995 Krusty Comics. Maybe it was for last century? If life imitates art the attraction will burn to the ground though.

I was there last week and rode it first thing Thursday morning and I can tell you it was definitely in technical rehearsal at that time. There were quite a few glitches but once the ride finally started it was awesome.

The people right in front of us were saying they rode it Wednesday night and waited in line almost an hour and a half and then it broke while they were on it and they had to wait a little while to be let off. I know when I went Tuesday (April 22) I didn't really notice it but my husband said, hey, didn't there used to be pictures on that wall? Sure enough, all the Simpsons graphics were gone but the fence was still there. Then Wednesday I noticed the fence had been taken down but all the attendants would say is "All I can tell you is, it's not open right now." Then a little while later a line started but they weren't letting anyone in and still saying all they could say is it wasn't open right now. I don't know how long those people stood in line but I would never stand in line for something I wasn't even sure was going to open.

There were several glitches, though, and I would be surprised if it was officially up and running this soon after that. Technical rehearsal, most likely!

We rode this on Sunday. It was a smoother ride to us than BTTF but I made sure I jumped in the first row as I remember banging my head in the back row. There were some glitches on the movie screen...a part of it was black lines. We went there right at park opening and waited about 20 minutes.

To tell you the truth, I've never been a big Simpsons fan so I wasn't looking forward to this one all that much. But Kevin Yee (at Miceage) just gave a great review and I may have to give it a try next time I'm down there.

If the ride is open but the official grand opening is still May 15 & 16, do you think there will be special festivities on those days?

Yes to special festivities. It'll tie in with the Hollywood opening. Also, I checked with a few KrustyKrew members. It's still Technical Rehearsal even though everything says "NOW OPEN"
