Simple Kid-Friendly Appetizer Needed

Chili dip.. Layer of cream cheese, pour a can of chili(no beans) over it, spread a bag of shredded cheese and microwave it for about 5 minutes. Serve with Tostitos. Teenage boys will love it.

cheese and crackers
pepperoni
nachos and salsa
fruit and dip

Teriyaki chicken wings in a crockpot?
Shrimp cocktail?
Cocktail weenies?
Spinach dip in a bread bowl?
Potato chips and onion dip? (My kids love that)
Cut up fruit with melted chocolate in a mini crockpot. (Fondue) Could also do caramel instead.

We make this yummy dip in the crock pot and its super easy.. 1 large can of Hormel chili ( we use no beans) 1 bar of cream cheese, and 1 bag of shredded cheddar. Heat until bubbly and serve with tortilla chips....

I know you asked for something you don't have to heat up BUT I just made homemade pizza rolls/bites this weekend for a little party and they were SO good. I imagine kids would love them and they are super easy. You roll pepperoni and mozz cheese in crescent roll dough, roll them up and cut them. Bake at 350 for about 10-12 minutes and serve with pizza sauce for dip. ( I wish I found this recipe sooner because it was sooo easy!!)

I made these last year and they were gone before I even got to taste one. It is the one request my teen son has made for this year. Courtesy of Paula Deen

Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps
Ingredients
1 1/4 pounds boneless, skinless, chicken breasts (about 4 breasts)
1 (1-pound) package sliced bacon
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons chili powder
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cut chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes. Cut each bacon slice into thirds. Wrap each chicken cube with bacon and secure with a wooden pick. Stir together brown sugar and chili powder. Dredge wrapped chicken in mixture. Coat a rack and broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place chicken wrap on rack in broiler pan. Bake 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or until bacon is crisp.

PEPPERONI PIZZA DIP

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/2 c. sour cream
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 c. pizza sauce
1/2 c. shredded pepperoni
1 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 c. chopped green pepper

Beat cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, oregano, black pepper. Mix in other ingredients. Spread into 10" pie plate. Spread on pizza sauce. Spread Mozzarella cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Can use crackers for dip.

You can always leave the onion and pepper out or add olives, etc. I usually cut up a loaf of Italian bread and toast it or make those canned bread sticks.

(This is one my favorite Disney trip things. We usually get a house with extended family, so I throw this in the oven when we get in from the parks late at night. The kids jump in the pool and then come in starving and chilled, dripping with towels wrapped around them, just as it's coming out of the oven, so yummy and fun!)

How about salsa/cream cheese dip? Put a jar of salsa and a brick (8oz) of cream cheese in a blender and mix until smooth. It's great with tortilla chips!!

Chicken wing dip (google crockpot recipe if you don't want to use the oven)

1 package softened cream cheese
2 cups cooked chunked boneless skinless chicken breast
chunky bleu cheese dressing
hot wing sauce
1 package shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Spread cream cheese in bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Mix hot wing sauce with the chicken and pour on top of the cream cheese, spread the chunky bleu cheese dressing over chicken mixture and top with Monterey Jack cheese.
Bake until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve with your favorite crackers or chips.

I would do a raw veggie/relish tray with my homemade dill dip and bring ranch dip as well.

Carrots, celery, cucumbers, cauliflower, broccoli, black olives, etc.....

Here is my dill dip recipe. It is yummy with veggies, pretzels, and rye bread.

1/3 c Mayo (I use Kraft)
1/3 c Sour Cream
2 tbsp finely chopped fresh parsely
2 tbsp finely minced/grated onion
2 tsp of Beau Monde (Spice Islands)
2 tsp of dill weed ( I do heaping tsp. )

Mix and done.

I just thought of another idea - a fruit tray. We had a party this weekend, and I put together a nice looking fruit tray with red and green grapes, fresh cut pineapple, and strawberries and it was definitely a hit! It's also healthy, so you can save more calories for desert.

I haven't read all of the replies. My kids (8 and 5) love my fresh veggies platter with homemade dip.

My suggestion would be good old chips and onion dip (sour cream and onion soup packet). The kids in my family love this. If you want to add to it just serve veggies too.

Chili dip.. Layer of cream cheese, pour a can of chili(no beans) over it, spread a bag of shredded cheese and microwave it for about 5 minutes. Serve with Tostitos. Teenage boys will love it.

This is my old standby...everyone loves it.

Queso dip

one brick of velveeta, cubed
one can of wolf brand chili (no beans)
one can of rotel
a couple of splashes of milk

Put it all in the crock pot until creamy and smooth. Serve with tortilla chips.

You all are wonderful and have given me such great ideas! I'm leaning towards a vegie platter with some dips, a cheese and cracker tray, and the pigs in a blanket although I like the chili cheese dip too. So many choices!
Thank you!

Chex mix is a big hit at our house for Christmas. I make a huge batch and everyone can munch on it whenever they are hungry. No need to heat it or refrigerate it and you can make it a few days ahead of time.

Super easy (but not really thanksgivingish) is celery with peanut butter in the middle and raisins on the top - spinach dip in the crock pot...

I hate peanut butter, I hate celery and I don't love raisins but one time after a lacrosse game a mom brought these for everyone as a snack when I was 16... to be polite I took one and began eating fast to get it over with. I ended up LOVING it.

I think it's a good and pretty healthy snack.

Also, some of my favorites are:
-meatballs or lil' sauages in the crock pot are great!
-a seven layer taco dip
-chips and salsa
-cheese ball and crackers
-mini bagels
-mini toasts from Trader Joe's with some dips
-mini pb&j sandwiches
