Silver booking - multiple bookings to get around stateroom limit?

Hi you lovely lot. Apologies if this has been asked before - I couldn't find this exact scenario and don't want to upset the Disney gods.

I'm silver cc. Want to go on a sailing with 4 guests (me +3) across 2 staterooms. Early booking will only let me book 1 room. Could I make 2 bookings and then change names to get around the fear of not getting the second stateroom later on?

For instance...

Booking A - Lead passenger (me) plus Guest 1
Booking B - Lead passenger (me) plus Guest 2 - then amend it later to bump Guest 2 to lead and then add Guest 3, removing me?

Does that make any sense? Or should i just be patient and wait for general booking to open up next week?

Nope it’ll red-flag because it’ll see your ID/name on 2 rooms. If you don’t have a 2nd Silver+ to put in the 2nd room you’ll have to wait
dang - that's a shame. I do have a second silver but unfortunately my date of birth is glitched and i can't seem to fix it without calling (which isn't happening today as the lines just keep cutting off).

Thank you though - I shall avoid getting myself blacklisted!

It worked for me, I had the same issue - we are a family of 6 and need 2 rooms on the dream. My kids and I are gold - my husband and stepdaughter are silver. It let me make two separate bookings with me in both rooms. I tried to use my son's account, because he will be 18 at the time of sailing, but it wouldn't let him buy a cruise at 16 (I suppose that is good!). When it isn't a 3 hour wait to talk to someone, I will call to sort out who is in which room.

so you put yourself as lead passenger in both? And you reckon it will be ok to amend the bookings later to remove you from one and add someone new to rebalance the numbers?

edit: thank you for responding!

Admittedly, I have never done it this way before. That said, I think it will be fine to change who is the rooms later. Once it opens to general public, you don't need to be a certain status to book a room. You haven't paid in full. You should be able to make changes.

I think that makes sense (I am rather dense so apologies). I just don't want to be stuck with me 'going twice' and my 3rd guest not getting to go at all because i didn't add them at time of booking. Or even worse, lose both reservations because I made Disney angry 😂🤣

Disney wants the money. They won't cancel the reservation or keep anyone from sailing. Enjoy your cruise.

I didn't think you could cancel a lead name without cancelling the whole stateroom...no?
I will come back and let you know after I try. :) In the frequently asked questions on the site, it says you can make a guest name change up to 45 days before the cruise without a fee. At 44 days, it is $50. It doesn't address "lead" vs other though.

EDIT: Cant change names on a room with restrictions.

this is the bit i'm worried about - but you can change who the lead is can't you? In my case it would mean bumping 2nd person (already on reservation) to lead passenger, ditching previous lead altogether and adding a new person in the 2nd passenger slot.

that's what I need to do too

That's been my understanding - you can't change the name of the lead guest.

Really? :( can anyone confirm? It just seems such a pointless perk to have the early bookings if you can’t secure a booking for your whole travel party.

Unless you are trying for a new/different/highly popular itinerary, there probably is no particular value in booking before the general public. Maybe if you really must have a certain stateroom. But prices on the standard Bahamian and Caribbean itineraries aren't likely to increase if you book today or next week.

I'll caveat that I haven't tracked the bookings this week to know if any are selling out or increasing prices, but typically that only occurs on more "special" itineraries.

appreciate that. There's only one of this itinerary and it's to make sure I book an adjoining room for my parents (first time cruisers - big anniversary gift from us). I've booked our room, but just want the comfort of knowing the second room is secured.

I realise I'm stomping my feet a bit but it just feels a whole lot more complicated than it really needs to be when I'm literally throwing money at Disney!

Even if you have to cancel and rebook it (which may increase cost), you will have held the adjoining stateroom. Deposits are refundable except in concierge.

I did think this might be the case. Might be worth the risk then if there’s no financial penalty (its august 2023, and standard verandah rooms, can’t afford concierge lol)

I just called and was able to change the lead on the reservation, no problem. The cast member did tell me that the system is supposed to auto-cancel a 2nd reservation under the same name - you shouldn't be able to be in two staterooms at the same time. But it seems there is a glitch in that system. All is fine - no price change.

Yay! That’s excellent! Thanks for letting us know :) I’m on hold now lol. Fingers crossed for the same outcome!
