Silly story about using the washer at AKV-a bit long!

We split our stay between a 1 bedroom and a 2 bedroom this past week. In the 1 bedroom (5110) we had a top loading, and in the 2 bedroom we had a Maytag front loading (5010). The 2 bedroom was a handicap accessible room, so that may be the reason for the front loading?

Does anyone know if there is is a HE liquid detergent for sensitive skin. I use Dreft at home and the villas.

ALL does make a Free and Clear detregent for HE washers. You can find it in a white bottle in the laundry isle.

We stayed studio at BCV - and the washer was a front loader - it took me awhile to find the instructions - (I use a front loader but not an HE, so this did puzzle me - and I of course respected the unit and didnt want to make a mistake!!)

I did finally find a laminated copy on the floor - but there was no HE detergent in the dispenser/purchase/box/thingy - I brought my Tide liquid and just used a tiny amount -

and it did throw me off at not seeing a load of water in the unit!! I was completely fascinated!! here I was at disney and watching the laundry wash!!

They were really great. I put a couple in a small Ziploc container. They are approved for HE. They were pretty expensive, but worth it I thought.

I guess I can't post that link. The item at Target is called dropps. They are awesome they are 1/2 oz each and wash a whole load. They are like the tabs, but liquid.

I didn't know they sell sample packs. That would have been great. Now I have 17 left that are just waiting for our next trip. Maybe I need another trip soon to use them.

On my home machine, the detergent is clearly marked in a cup separate from the bleach & softener. Debbie

My front loader HE washer has 3 separate areas too. I think if I was there and no one knew, I would have put half of the cup in water and diluted it and then put it on the clothes. I would say that I cannot understand putting any other detergent other than those specifically meant for HE on any of my laundry, but if I had to do it I would.

When we bought our unit, the saleperson mentioned that if we were to use regular liquid detergent, we would have to only use a quarter of the amount.

But I did see Tide on the Walmart shelf that was powder and HE . I have no idea how that works. Certainly you cannot use it on units like the one we have. There must be other HE units that allow this.

Although, this is funny. (I think I would be standing there for a good 10 minutes before I called someone, just in confusion )Thanks for posting it.

My maytag front loader can use liquid or powder HE detergent. The pull out detergent "drawer" actually has four slots, for detergent, liquid fab softener, liquid detergent and for additional detergent if doing a prewash for really tough stains. The cup for detergent has a movable insert that in normal position holds liquid detergent, but if you put it in the alternate position (which allows more water flow through it by creating a larger opening) it can hold powdered detergent. The only stipulation is that you can't combine liquid and powder in the same wash cycle.
