Silly Question -- Wait Time for MS / Christmas Week Ressies

I'm getting ready to start calling on a day to day basis for my Christmas week reservations. We've never done this before, though, and I'm wondering what the wait time usually is if one reaches MS when it opens at 9:00 a.m. How long have you been kept on hold when trying to make reservations for the week(s) surrounding Christmas? (I'm a teacher. Fortunately my planning time is first block this year, so I've got until 9:25 (10:25 eastern), but I can't stay on indefinitely.)

(See, this really IS a silly question!) :earboy2:

I am a teacher, too, and I made ressies last Sept. for Christmas week. I always go at Christmas(and spring break). My home resort, BWV, was sold out, but I did get ressies at WLV, so I was happy. In response to your question, Monday is always the worst day to call, and the wait times can be long, sometimes over 20 minutes, if you can get thru, which is iffy. But if you call later in the day, or on Tuesday, you can usually get right thru. Are you calling for BWV standard view or a grand villa? If not, you needn't have a heart attack if you don't get thru, and if you are flexible on accommodations you can sleep in! :D

My husband just finished up our VWL reservations for Dec (obviously not Christmas week :D ) and he said that he did not wait at all. He called at around 9:30. Not sure if this helps or not, but I can remember doing it for the same time frame a few years back and being on hold for 15 plus minutes. I wonder if people are not doing the day-by-day as much as we used to.

I just wrapped up an early December day-by-day reservation. I didn't wait long on hold (10 minutes was the longest on a Monday) but i had a hard time getting through on the 1-800 number. I used the 407 number and got right through every time. I know it sucks to pay the toll, but I didn't have the patience to keep trying the toll free.

Thanks! I feel better now! We're looking for a preferred view BWV studio, so I think we're okay, but I'd feel better if we got the reservations right off the bat.

What IS the 407 number in case I need to use it? (I suppose I can get it off the member website.)

407-566-3800. Start calling exactly at 9:00. If you get a busy signal, keep redialing. That's what I did when trying to get my last night of BWV on Jan 4, which was very busy because of the long weekend before. It took about 5 minutes to get through. I did my other dates the week before, I had no problem getting through at 9:00.

The 407# is also on the back of your member card.

I think it was determined that MS is closed tomorrow? Monday is always the busiest day so be prepared for it to be extra busy Tuesday. I found the problem was getting through more so than holding -- I don't think I've ever had to hold more than 5 minutes during a very busy time (but it can feel like an hour). The recording will give you an estimate of the hold time. If the 800# doesn't go through after a few redials, try the 407#.

The advice about not stressing is also good. Unless you are booking the GV or the standard BWV view, you've got 11 months for the waitlist to come through on any missing days. A good percentage of people have a change of plans in that length of time.

**Just saw a conflicting answer about Monday -- I guess it's worth giving a call***
