Silly question about park hours

Hey there! I know this may seem like a silly question, but when the calendar says the park closes at a certain time (ie.8pm) are you shoo-ed out of the park before that time or can you still shop around on Main Street until a later time?

I ask this because my friend was there a few years ago and told me that all the rides were closed by 8pm, but they were allowed to browse the shops until 9pm.

Also somewhat related, when does DtD officially close? As in, when do the stores and restaurants close and when does the general area close?

Generally, while the park may close at a specific time (lets say 8), they will start shooing you out of the various lands and out onto Main St, where shopping stays open an extra hour. There are a few occasions, that the park "hard closes", which means no extra shopping, and they start moving you out right away.

That is a good way to put it.^^^


Ride lines are closed at 8pm on a 8pm closing day. Everyone in line is allowed to ride. The stores and dining and carts and such close in a staggered manner, generally the bigger and back or the parks things first. You can very slowly make your way out, no people suggesting you go to the exits until quite late. The Mainstreet stores will close at 9pm.

However like the other poster said on some occasion there are hard closures when everything will be closed at the closing time (if you are in a queue you can still ride) and you are directed to the gates. So if your visit is coming up you may be there for some of these. The Halloween Party nights are a sort of hybrid of these two situations, because the party guests are allowed to stay and most things are left open, but the non party guests are directed to the exit. In December (possibly) there will be Disney employee parties where there will be a full hard close where guests are sent out before the party guests go in. When there are private parties in the parks they also usually close hard.

Do you know when Downtown Disney closes? I can't get the hours on the website. It only gives me the hours for "entertainment" but not of the shops and restaurants.

It's staggered since there is a lot to DTD. This is why there is no single answer. You will have options to eat to about 11-12. HoB and RFC seem to stay open the latest IME.
