forgive if this is just too dumb a question but I was just wondering how all of you who pack coffee filters for your DVC kitchen pack them in your suitcase and avoid them being flatened???

I can't stand it when my filters gets completely flat!

Just curious if anyone else has packed them and avoided flatening them!

Thanks!;)

ps...I used to work at Dunkin Donuts and I just couldn't stand when our pre-separated filters got completely flatened and we ended up throwing many a filters away for that reason! Maybe this is why I thought of this question!

I pack them and usually flatten them myself. When you put the filter in and add coffee they are just fine. If you want to try to avoid them being flattened then use a pair of socks, child's t-shirt or anything that will retain the shape. I then use a gallon sized zip lock to keep everything in place. Hope this helps!

Just put them in a Tupperware bowl, along with salt and pepper, sugar in zip lock bags or your coffee in Ziplocs. Could even use the disposable Ziploc or glad ware bowls.

Thanks for the ideas!

I may just go and buy those disposible ziplock or Gladware bowls!

We use the filter packs that are already filled with coffee. Just drop them into the basket. They are easy to travel with and easier to use.

Thank you for that suggestion. I know it would be simpler but we LOVE and are hooked on Dunkin Donuts coffee so it's out of the question!;)

I know what you mean. I love Dunkin Donuts coffee too (had mine this morning) but sacrifice to make things simpler on the trip. Can't blame you though for sticking with what you like.

To Beattyfamily, I too will be bringing Dunkies! I'm wondering how much to bring though? I'm planning on going to Dunkies the day before the trip to get nice and fresh ground coffee in the pound container...are you bringing the whole lb. with you or are you just pouring out half of that? I know, a stupid question, but I'm really wondering what other people do as I have never brought coffee with us before.

Most Dunkin's no longer ground the coffee fresh onsite anymore. They now order one pound bags, already ground which are air-tight until they are opened. I will be buying it soon...I'm almost out of my stash that I had when it was buy 2 lbs for $9.99! Every December and one month in the Spring they have this sale!

I will probably bring the whole 1lb bag unopened and still air-tight and just bring the left overs home since it's in a resealable bag. I did consider only bringing half but I changed my mind. This is my first stay 'home' so this is my first time bringing coffee and filters!

They also sell little one coffee pot bags which might be convenient for some people! I just can't remember how much they cost.

8-12 cup Mr. Coffee filters. The studio we had had a 4 cup maker, but the 8-12 cup filters worked fine.

BTW, the store will sell these to you for a whole $1.25 for 50 of them. We paid that for a pack of 100 at the store, but only used 12 and threw the rest of the box away rather than tote it home to our cone filter maker. Knowing that now, I wouldn't bother to pack them. Other store prices we thought were reasonable, $1.25 for a dozen eggs, $1.50 for a pint of half and half.

Beattyfamily, thanks! A lb. it is. Sounds great!

We buy a can of Maxwell House pre-measured and packed in a filter coffee before we leave home. It doesn't take up much room in the bag and I find it's cheaper at home than at the stores in FL. Also, you can take it back home, keep it in the freezer and it's ready for your next trip.
