silly question about autograph books

If you make your own book with personalized pages for each character, how do you find that character's page quickly? I know there will be very long lines for autographs and I am just picturing myself standing there flipping, flipping, flipping, trying to find that one page.

What do you do? Alphabetize them? have little tabs on the side? Something else?

Never thought about trying to find a person. Guess I will just page thru it and find a person.

This is how I made the grandkids Autograph books.

Went to wallyworld , picked up a 72 photo book ($2.99?) slit the cover on the top to insert my own picture (princesses for girl, cars for boys) You can find design all over this board.

Then I proceded to print out (from a designer) designs of characters we might run into, in each of the slots. Till half way thru the books.

Then I printed out blank pages with borders (from a designer on this board)
all different colors . Dark, light in the rest of the books

I figure we might not see any princesses but we might see someone else I don't have a page for and I can use the blank border page for them.

I would slide the page out and put it back in the book.

When I get home I will have a signature and then a picture of the character on the same page (upper and lower) the rest of the photo book would contain other pictures I have taken at Disney.

Which ever way you do yours. Have fun with it.:goodvibes

I put my autograph pages in alphabetical order.

What about those post it note arrows for "sign here"? They remove from the paper without causing damage, so once you have the sig you can take the arrow off. You can also write on them (like index tabs) with a fine point sharpie....

Great idea! :thumbsup2
Would the sharpie smear on that type of material though?

I don't know for sure, but I am testing one right now...LOL. You might have to write it one night and let it dry then use them the next day...the arrows do have some sort of plastic coating on them.... Well...I just wrote it on the name brand post it arrows about 1 minute ago, and I just ran my finger over it and it didn't smear. I did use a name brand sharpie (fine point because the arrows aren't all that big). SUCCESS!

We use those tabs at work, and I've never had a problem with sharpies smearing... I use the fine point sharpies though, not sure if it makes a difference....

I alphabetized mine but kept a pack of small regular post its (just the paper kind) so if say Timon and Rafiki were together I could post in on one while I gave the other the book. Then I took it and changed pages and handed it back. That worked best for us.

These are great tips. I went thorugh a fair bit of stress (albeit only Disney sized stress) finding the right pages. Between excitment of the kids, getting the camera ready, finding the pages.....I felt like I needed a drink lol. I used a photo album with plastic slots and found it a bit cumbersome. Next time I think I'll decorate a small clipboard and have a pen attached.

Thanks everyone! I do have the fine tip Sharpies so that will work very nicely.

I feel a bit silly planning so far in advance, but I'm too excited about all the stuff I'm doing for my girls to stop now.

I have printed out a bunch for the ones I think we could run into (and some we hope to). I plan to group them something like: fab 5; Cinderella (w/step-mom & sisters); Aladin movie; Alice in Wonderland movie; Beauty & the Beast and so on. I will put a post it on the first page of every grouping to tell who they are, so hopefully they will be easier to locate...we'll see. Don't go until August.

Haven't actually bound the pages. The kids want to make their own photo albums/scrapbooks when we get back, so the autograph pages will go in those when we get back and pics are developed/printed.

I am doing similar to above (mine will be bound though). Arranging them as Fab Five then Pooh and friends and then characters from the same film grouped together eg Timon and Rafiki. I am numbering each page and then printing out a seperate index which is alphabetical and can be left with the supervising adult. So, for example, we see Cinderella, adult looks in index under C and sees she's on page 17. I have bought little number stickers for the back of each page.

I had mine in a ziploc bag in alphabetical order. That is what worked best for me.

I've heard of people using coupon organizers as well. It depends on the size you print and whether you can get the right size organizer.

i had mine in order by movie/show/ whatever. that took too long so what i did was i put all the characters pages that i thought would be at that park and put them on the clipboard. that way i just pulled out the clipboard. it was so much easier!
:)

I have mine in order of parks and character meals, with a couple of blank pages for characters that I may have missed. I use steve soares as a guide as what characters are where

Hi! Just found this thread and thought I would add....
The sticker company Sandylion has cardstock sticker tabs of Mickey and friends, the Princesses and Pooh and friends.
I used them for our autograph books last trip and then bought more for this trip. I found them very useful, so I didn't have to flip through the pages as much!
Hope this helps

I found a photo book (100 4x6 photos) in a $1 store. I alphabetized them first by movies, then by character. It made it easier to flip through and find the card. Once they were signed they went into a baggie for safe keeping. Then they went into the photo album next to the picture of the child getting the autograph. Penny:hippie:
