Has anyone ever had the silhouette cut-outs done on Main Street at MK?
I've often gone past the cart, wondering how good of job they do. One time I asked the price and it's cash only. I couldn't find any reviews. Thanks!

Hi! We went MK last Nov. and I had a silhouette done of my 3 kids. I thought it turned out wonderful. The man who cut it out has talent. The likeness to my kids is uncanny. I bought two oval frames that they had. I think I spent $42 altogether. It was cash only. I gave the 2nd frame to my mom and she loved it:) I am thinking of doing it again either this Nov. or the following year to see any differences in the kids. Thought this was a wonderful souvenier for the money:thumbsup2

I have not had the silhouttes done at the MK, but a few years ago, the company my husband works for had a few of Disney's silhoutte cutters at their Family Day. We had them done there for both of our boys, and they were exact. They did them for free, I guess the company paid them for the day.

We had this done of my ds this past January. You get two pictures for the price of one. Like the pp we bought two frames and gave the pictures to our ds's two sets of grandparents as gifts. Wish we had kept one for ourselves. They were beautiful and you could tell who the picture was. It was also amazing to watch the artist free-hand the cuts. Well worth the price. I think we paid 12.00 for the two pictures and then $8.00 per frame.

I think the price may go up if you are doing a cut out of more then one person.

I had shilouttes done of my kids in Oct. They did a fabulous job. My little guy could barely sit still, and the likeness is still remarkable. I think I paid 38.00 or so for two shilouttes and two frames with two subjects. I kept one and gave the other to my MIL. Best souvineer ever.

Thanks all for the quick replies. Is a tip customary? And I mean as in cash, not a Hitchcock silhouette (which was quick work to find)!pirate: Although I am a huge fan of his movies.

We had it done for DD last April. She was asleep when we got there and I asked the artist if we should come back when she woke up. He said "No. Actually it will be better. She won't be distracted looking around at everything". The picture is one of my most cherished items from that trip!! It was crazy how much it looked like my daughter. Ringlets and all. I highly reccomend it!:goodvibes

we just got them a week ago and the guy did an amazing job. i could not believe how inexpensive they were... i believe we paid about $30 + tax for two kids... we got each done separately and framed, plus an additional unframed copy of each, all for that price total. i think if you get them unframed they are only about $7 each, which includes a free copy. very worth it.

This sounds so great!

Does anyone have a photo of theirs?

(I mean Robo's is great and everything, but.... ;) )

We found the best deal to be at Downtown Disney they were the same thing but a bit cheaper $24.00 for 3 people unframed 3 copies.

They have made for a wonderful souvenir and great gifts for grandparents.

I will try to put a scan of ours up later.

We have done silhouettes each time we've gone, beginning in 12/05, then 9/07 and then again in 11/10.

The first 2 times they were done at DTD by a lady with really long hair and I loved them! I had them done at DTD this last November, by a man. The way they do it is that you pay in the pin store and then come back out and get your finished product, so I hadn't gotten a good look until after I had paid. I was sick. When you look at my boys, one of the first things you see are eyelashes. Neither had any eyelashes and they had chins that reminded me of Jerry Lewis. I could see nothing even resembling my boys in them and wound up getting my money back, but it was a pain. Several days later, I was at MK and saw the cart over by Liberty Square. I told the lady there about the previous experience and asked if I could see them before I paid. She said that wasn't a problem. Then we had a discussion about whether I should, for the first time, do it with my sons' hats on. Sean always wears his Pluto hat on every trip. Ryan always wears a baseball hat with Peter Pan and Captain Hook on it. These hats are almost as important as the tickets to the parks. She said she could easily do it, but recommended that instead of doing Ryan's baseball hat, that she do a Peter Pan hat with a feather since you wouldn't know it had anything to do with Peter if it was just a baseball hat. I was thrilled at the idea.

Needless to say, every time I saw her for the next several weeks (we were there for a month), I thanked her. I couldn't have been happier. I adore that particular silhouette because those hats and those characters are such a magical part of our trips. I love it so much, that I scanned it in and have made t-shirts for our trip this coming October.

I know that the advertisement is 2 at the MK and 3 at DTD, but she told me they always do a third at no additional charge, when requested before they start.

wanted to add something.... dh and i were just looking at them (we are just finishing unpacking today, ugh), and he said the ones he had done by a woman at the MK were terrible. the ones i was raving about in my previous post were done by a man in the MK right next to crystal arts our second day there. the day we left, dh ran the kids over to the same stand to get another set done for his parents. they were done by a woman. i never saw them, as he took them to his parents as soon as we got back, but he said the ones we had done by the man were 1000X's better and he was very disappointed by the other ones.

In June 2009, we had our children's silhouettes done by the man near the crystal arts shop on Main Street. My son was very grumpy, but his silhouette and my daughter's both turned out beautiful. The man is very talented. I wish I remembered his name. My husband and I had portraits done in Disneyland 10 years ago, and the WDW ones were far superior.

DH and I had ours done last year in MK by an man near the Crystal shop... and they came out great!! My parents had one of me done when I was young (5 maybe?), so we are building a set..lol! We are looking forward to the day when we have a child and can get one of the three of us :lovestruc
