Signs on rides

I really just want to know what others think about the people who bring signs onto rides. Last time I was in Disneyland I rode ToT for the first time, and I really wanted the ride photo afterwards.
But while we were in line there were about 6 middle school girls in front of us, holding these signs with hand written stuff on them, I don't remember what they said, but I'm pretty sure they were all 'inside jokes'. Long story short, they ended up in the same drop as us, and they held up their signs for the picture. Needless to say we didn't get the ride picture, because it kind of ruined it for us. :/ Luckily we never ran into them again, but we also had people bring signs onto some other rides which was really annoying.
I think it's fine if say, you're all riding SM or something where there's no other people with you. It just really bothers me when people bring signs for the pictures, because to me it's kind of rude to everyone else.
What do you think? Has anyone else had a problem with people doing this, or is it just my luck?

I haven't seen that in the parks yet, but I would be annoyed too. They should save that for rides where it doesn't affect someone else's picture.

It's an annoying practice.

If it happens to you again, where you lose your picture, talk to the CMs there. They should let you ride again quickly.

There's a picture that was all over the internet a year or so ago on Splash Mountain. (I'm sure if anyone wants to see it, they can still find it). There is a terrified looking girl in the front seat, and then behind her the others in the boat are holding "Lindsay, will you marry me" signs. I wouldn't mind that type of sign so much if I were a passenger....however, if I was Lindsay (assuming she is the girl in the picture), I don't think I would be amused. You've scared the you know what out of me, I'm dripping wet, and then as I stand there dripping you "propose" to me on a photograph on a monitor at the bottom of a ride. Not exactly the romantic proposal she was expecting I am guessing. I seem to remember some speculation as to whether the photo was real or staged. I've seen other photos with signs, but we have never been the victims. I agree that in most circumstances it is annoying- especially in your case where it wasn't something that would be funny to everyone.

This is a good example of how people who go often may ruin it for people that get rare chances to go.

I've never seen this happen but if it did, and I really wanted to get a picture, I would just ride it again.

OP if it should happen again, as bumber said, tell the CM's working the ride, they will ensure you get to right back on...... :) We had something similar happen on Splash, only it the 4 of us in the back and the guys ahead of were inappropriately grabbing their girlfriends who were seated in front of them. When we got off it said our photo was washed away, we were honestly considering getting the photo so we stopped on our way out to ask (we saw the photo when they pulled it up, they didn't hide it quite fast enough, the girls did not see it) and they walked us up the exit to the CM working there and we got on the next log with no one else. Needless to say we did buy the photo because when else do you get a photo on Splash in the middle of a hot day with no one but your family? :)

I've never been on a ride and seen the signs, but I'd be so bummed if that happened to us and the picture was ruined. I have a feeling it's going to start happening more often, so hopefully they will find a way to stop it soon.

On the contrary..being as obsessed with disney as I am, if my bf proposed like that I would be overjoyed! I think it was out of the ordinary and very inventive!

If someone holding a sign in your ride photo is your biggest problem, consider your life good.....

I couldn't be bothered to worry about something as trivial as this.

If it happens, ride again....

Have fun at the parks and don't let the small stuff get in the way.

Mabel67, I don't understand... I was responding to the OP's question about an opinion. Yes I would be bummed if say it was my daughter's first ride on something and we wanted to get the picture to remember it and there was a sign in the way. And I also think the sign on splash where someone asking someone to marry them is adorable. I would be bummed yes, but would it ruin our time in the parks, no. I didn't say that.

The small stuff do not get in my way, I am not bothered to worry about something as trivial as this, as you say, I was just answering the OP's question, to be honest, the thought had never crossed my mind until the OP asked for an opinion. I have never personally seen someone on a ride with a sign. And by the way, my life is good, and I love it.

Gheez, I feel like you just kinda attacked me for no reason. Wow! There was really no reason for that. I was just answering the question for an opinion. Should I have used the word annoyed instead of bummed? Ghezz, sorry

Sorry OP to have this done on your thread......

Well, dang! I wish I had known at the time that we could have asked to go back on! I guess the thing for me is, they unknowingly "took away" my picture for my first ride. It didn't ruin my day or anything, it's just kind of annoying that they did it. I'm just glad I'm not the only one this has happened to!

Sorry, I meant to hit quick reply instead of quote....
I wasn't directing specifically to you, it was just a general reply...and the replay wasn't an 'attack' as you say, even if it was a directed answer....sheesh.

I think it's a matter of knowing your partner. My husband knew my personality, and never thought for a second about doing a big public thing. He has the personality to do that, but he knew that my personality was the important one in asking for marriage.

If the girl in the log was the proposee, seems like he didn't realize she would be scared on the ride, so IMO that's a bit of a mess-up. For his sake, I hope that the one he was asking was a non-rider, waiting at the end, or watching them come down the drop from outside.
