Hi all,
We will be staying at Disneyland Hotel in Aug. and haven't requested a Tower yet. I am reading some good things about Sierra Tower. Is there are certain "must have" view? Are there any tips a first timer at Disneyland should ask for at Front Desk? We haev stayed at WDW several times so Disneyland is totally new to us!
Thanks!

Last year we got view of the Neverland pool from the Sierra tower, and it was very nice.

The Sierra Tower is all premimum view rooms. Either with the pool on one side or DTD on the other. Did you pay for a view room?

We were bumped up to a view room for free a few years ago. We got a pool view in the Marina tower, which was nice. But getting the free upgrade shouldn't be counted on. If you did pay for a view room, I'd probably ask for the Sierra tower facing DTD.

We had a pool view in the Sierra tower once before also, and it was very nice!

pool view in sierra, room 2636 with a King bed...:thumbsup2 loud tho,but you get used to it...

Oh VWCat, seeing that picture makes me want to make reservations now. We always ask for the Sierra Tower and usually get the pool view. We LOVE the view. We're waiting to take our DD's but the rates have been so high lately, even AP rates. I remember a few years ago we were able to stay at DLH for $99 per night. It seems that those days are long gone :(.

Thanks for posting that great picture. It makes me want to dive right in....

Not true. Some of the lower level rooms are considered "standard rooms" because they don't offer a view. That is why even if you have reserved a standard room, you can request Sierra Tower and hope and pray they bump you up a few floors to get the view!

We did this for my son's birthday last year and this is the view we got!

this is just my $.02 but I dont like the sierra tower...I cant really place my finger on exactly why...but it just seems like of the 3 towers, this one is the older and looks older even though its not really true...my favorite is Marina tower...I have stayed in all 3...Bonita is nice if you get a room overlooking the waterfalls but its the farthest of the 3 ...Bonita pool view is smack dab next to all the excitement and truthfully the noise doesnt bother me one bit...Its a comfort to hear it...and parents with kids are up and out early so the only reason I need a wakeup call is to hear my ::MickeyMo voice:love:

Good to know. Either way, you'll need to pay more if you want a GOOD view in the Sierra tower (unless your lucky to get a free upgrade). I can't imagine staying in the Sierra Tower for any other reason, as I would think the standard view in the other towers would be better then a low view in the Sierra. :confused3 We actually prefer the Marina tower for the most part.

That's interesting. We've stayed in the Sierra tower many times (maybe a dozen) and we've never had to pay extra for an upgraded view, yet we have always gotten a great view. That's one of the best things about the Sierra Tower IMO, you either see the pool or DTD. Although we've never stayed in the Bonita or Marina Towers so we don't have anything to compare it to.

That is interesting, because they have standard and view rooms at the DLH (well all 3 hotels). Unless you get a free upgrade your supposed to pay more for view rooms. If not a DTD or pool view, what would you pay more for? Certainly not a parking lot view! ;)

We got a free upgrade in 2006 to a pool view in the Marina tower. But I've also gotten a very standard view (parking lot) when just paying the standard room price. I mean it makes sense, you wouldn't pay the same to view the parking lot in PPH as someone who pays for the DCA view. So if you've always gotten a view room at standard price, I'd say you were lucky! :)

I was just looking on the Disneyland website. For 2 nights in October it adds $80 to the total to upgrade to a view/resort view from a standard view.

So yes praying for a free upgrade is the only way to go without paying the higher rate! :) That's what were doing in October. We got a great deal for the GCH, it's a standard view room rate. So hopefully we'll get bumped up, but I know to not count on it!

yay,glad you liked it:thumbsup2

Wait, let me clarify. We've never specifically asked for an upgraded view room. We've always only requested the Sierra Tower because of it's location and we've always paid a standard rate. We figure we can't go wrong with the Sierra Tower because we'll either get the pool view or DTD view. We've never been disappointed with our view from the Sierra Tower, and we've never been placed on a really low floor.

Hopefully that makes sense. I didn't want pp thinking I get free upgrades everywhere I go. If only that were the case ;). LOL!
