The future of Spaceships Earth and Illuminations are up in the air.

I know I'm in the minority, but I'd like to see a replacement for or overhaul of Illuminations. Maybe this will trigger something new.

Hopefully this doesn't mean that they are changing the attraction at all. I love the ride just the way it is, plus I need my Dame Judi Dench fix. I'll be quoting her lines to the cashier at Wal-mart.

Woah, that's huge. Personally, I'd have taken the monorail fleet (in the link, Siemens would have provided monorail trains if they could be branded). They need it! I hope they don't gut Spaceship Earth, but it could use some tweaks, and the post show area could be overhauled.

Even if Siemens doesn't sponsor it anymore, it's a giant ball at the entrance of the park. They will NOT tear it down or anything. I think Spaceship Earth is safe. Journey into Imagination, however... I'm not so sure. I'm kind of hoping they say something about it at D23 about how beloved Figment is and how their bring back Dreamfinder and making a more up-to-date version of their ride from the 80s.... a girl can dream.

They tore down the Sorcerer's Hat and Earful Tower at DHS. Never say never though I tend to agree. Of course, they could close the ride and gut it into another Festival Center. WoL2? Or just empty it out like Imagination. Disney has lots of ways to deal with sponsors pulling out. Traditionally it involves screwing the ticketholder.

Well yeah, because the Sorcerer's Hat was dumb. I feel like Spaceship Earth is the staple of Epcot. I know this is just my opinion, but I feel like when people think Epcot, they think Spaceship Earth. If they get rid of the ride, I expect a "getting rid of Figment" like protest.

What I'm afraid it might trigger is just an elimination of Illuminations with nothing replacing it.

The hat was only supposed to be temporary for the 100 year celebration but yes never say never.

I don't disagree, I'm just saying. The Hat, or the Earful Tower, were the symbols for DHS. They took them out. Do I expect the Castle, Spaceship Earth, or The Tree of Life to go the same way? No. All are much more enduring symbols of each park, but who thought they would get rid of the Hat? I expect SE to be there. I just wonder what will be in it.

I'm more interested in thoughts about turning down their monorail fleet replacement offer. With all the discussion lately of their aging fleet, it makes me wonder what their plans are.
