Hi everyone,

I need ideas for a meal and I know all you great cooks could help me. I am making a chicken-dried beef-bacon in a crock pot. It has a cream base gravy to it. What would you serve to a couple in their 80's who prefer down home, farm style cooking???? He doesn't like rice. What about a salad? She makes awesome homemade rolls so I won't make mine. Guess I will buy French bread or something.

Thanks!!!

I was thinking about mashed potatoes. I knew I needed some color cuz both are pretty plain. Green beans would add a little pop to the plate! Thanks.

Ah yes. You could add a little color by using red potatoes and leaving the skin on and a subtle amount of green herb (parsley, dill...) to garnish the top.
Enjoy!

By golly, I think you've got it! I definitely am serving the mashed potatoes and considering dobling the gravy ingredients. Love the idea of topping them with dill. I am adding a strawberry jello salad. Thanks!

Another yummy idea is to cut some potatoes into bite size pieces toss with Olive Oil, salt, pepper, garlic (or garlic powder), parsley flakes and roast them in the oven! Mmmm
