DS woke up last night with a fever and we are hoping he gets better in time for our flight on Saturday. If he is feeling better and we go on I would like to know that there is a medical clinic or something nearby that we could use in case he gets worse.

Does anyone have any suggestions for places you have used in the past?

Thanks!

Hi Becka,

I posted on your thread on the CB but thought I'd give you info here as well. I know there's a clinic near Crossroads Shopping Center that lots of people have used. Apparently they'll even pick you up and bring you back to your resort. There's also a pharmacy that will deliver. Unfortunately I don't know the names of either of these places but I'm sure someone will be along who does or you could always ask at your resort.

I really hope you have a great trip. I know you've been waiting a long time for it.

Take care,

Kate

I used the CentraCare urgent care center on 192 on one of my trips and was satisfied with the care. I was diagnosed and given a prescription that put me back on track.

There's a place called D.O.C. or Doc's on Call. I can't find the number but you could get it from information. I understand they'll come to your room. If I can find the phone number later I'll post it.

What about taking him to his Dr. before you go and let him know you are heading out of town. He can give your DS a once over and maybe even give you a precription to have fill in case the fever leads to an ear infection or something a few days down the road. That way too if he gets worse you can call your Dr athome and by him just seeing him, he may be able to call you something in to a store in Orlando. Our Dr. has always said to call them first if you are out of town and need medical attention. If they feel you need more care, they would recomend where you should go.

Prayers that he is better already.

BTW, let the doctor know you are flying, he may want to prescribe a decongestant or something to help prevent fluid from getting in the ears.
just a thought.

They were very nice and they will pick you up at your resort. There are carseats in the shuttle - just let them know ahead of time before your pickup. The front desk has thier phone #. :earsboy:

I also took my kids to Centracare. I had both of them with pink eye that showed up the third day we were on vacation. They took good care of us and even called a couple of days later to ask how everyone was doing, how the medication was working etc. I was impressed! Our peds office doesn't do that!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

When my DH was sick at Disney, we used Docs on Call. We just called the hotel operator and they connected directly to the doctor service. The doctor arrived about 2 hours after we called.

It was great because we didn't have to try to find somewhere or drag the kids out to the clinic with us. The downside was that they needed to be paid right away and we had to submit to the insurance company ourselves.

We did have to go out and find a pharmacy, which is not always easy at night. But, my DH felt better much faster with the medicine and only 1 real day of vacation was spent in the parks without Daddy.

..is Turner's Drugs...AWESOME staff!!

They deliver to the front desk ($5.00 delivery charge), front desk pays it, and you can room charge it.

Sorry I don't have the number handy, but again, front desk at your resort will. We needed some meds for teh kids while away, and it was no problem!:D

Enjoy!

We have never gotten sick while there...but this is great info that I'm adding to our WDW info sheet..

Celebration Hospitol has a great staff. We have used them 3 times. Each time have gotten a wonderful ER Doc named Mansur. He is a real sweetheart.
Turners drugs does deliver and is fabulous. I could not believe how quickly they will deliver. They also will bring things like non scripted Motrin, cough drops, and pedialite.
I always chose the Er simply because I was sure they took my insurance and as I said I have been lucky with DR.Mansur. Good Luck. I am sure he will be fine. just have your pedi check him before you leave!

Wow, who knew!! Wish I had known all this before our trip in Dec. My dd, 10, was sick from the second day until the next to last day of our trip. She had a big bump on her jawline, that was sore to the touch, a huge canker type sore in her mouth, a fever, upset tummy, fatigue. I never thought to ask at the front dest. What a dope. Ah well. I did check out the lump at the first aid area in MGM. The nurse was pretty helpful but couldn't say what it was. Still don't know. Looks like dd may have had a slight flu thing. Slept for about 3 hrs. every day, mid-day. I'll be adding all your hints to my planning pages also. Just wish I had thought to ask someone there.

My 4 yr old DS fell unexpectedly and rapidly ill the day we arrived at the WL last Sept. We called his pediatrician at home and he recommended that we take him to a hospital. We had no idea what to expect. One call to the front desk and we were well taken care of. They arranged for a cast member to drive us to Celebration (a weird name for a hospital, dontcha think? LOL) The medical care we received there was excellent. The cast members also picked us up and checked up on us the next day. I can't express how wonderful they were to us.

If you weren't already planning to do so, pack a fever thermometer and emergency first aid kit. We were so glad we did.

Good Luck!

(PS: One of my colleagues at work visited WDW the following week and ended up at Celebration twice -- his wife was plowed down by a woman with a stroller and broke her ankle; then two days later his son got a stomach bug and needed to be rehydrated.)
