Siblings sharing bedrooms

I shared a room with my brother, who is 5 yrs younger than me, until I was 14. I had been begging for my own room for a couple of years, on the grounds that a teenage girl needs privacy and shouldn't have to share with a boy. They finally listened and I switched rooms with my older brother, so he and my younger brother then shared. No idea why they had ME share with DB all those years instead of having both boys share!?!

At any rate my younger DB and I are very close, have always been.

DD and DS both have their own rooms, but they know that if we decide on another child (adoption) they will be sharing a room with them.

I shared a room with my sister growing up and hated it. I was neat and she was a slob (think Oscar and Felix). My kids all have their own rooms.

I never had to share a room....it was just my brother and I so we had our own rooms.

My DD18 has her own room. DD10 and DD7 share a room. They have shared since DD7 was born. DD10 is always asking to have her own room...we have 4 bedrooms, but the 4th room is very tiny and that's where I have the computer and toys. I have no other place to put the computer and toys so it's not really an option to put her in there.

DD18 is going to college in the fall and living at school...DD10 can't wait because she thinks she is going to move in DD18's room! I have tried to tell her that DD18 needs to keep her room for when she comes home on college breaks but she won't hear it!

We have two girls and they have their own rooms but sleep together. Their choice go figure.:confused3

Same here - my DDs (3 and 5) each have their own room, but they prefer to sleep together, so the 3 year old's bed almost never gets used. DD5 has a daybed with a trundle, so I just leave the trundle up all the time, and they both sleep in her room.

I was an only child so yes I had my own room.

I now have 4 boys, My 2 oldest, 2o and 17, each have their own room while my 2 little ones, 7 and 5, share a room.

My brother and I shared a bedroom when we were about 7 and 12 while the upstairs of our house was being remodeled. Wasn't really a bedroom, I guess it had been the dining room before we used it. No doors.

My sister and I shared after the upstairs was finished until my brother moved in with my dad. Then after my mom and her second husband divorced I had to share with my sister again when we lived in smaller houses. Even after mom remarried I had to share with her until I moved out right before my21st birthday.

My girls share a room but we are ready to change that in the next few months. It has worked out great but now they are getting older and I think they need their own space.

Did you and one (or more) of your siblings have to share a bedroom growing up? How about your children now, do they have to share?

I only have one sibling, so we each had our own room. I don't currently have any children, but the dogs have their own room.

My sister and I shared a room for many years. First for 4 years when we lived in Kuwait (I was 2-6 years old then) and then again for 3 years when we lived in Germany (when I was 9-12).

My oldest 2 kids used to share a room when they were small (9 months to 4 years) and then 2 of my DD´s shared a room for a year when we lived in Denmark. They all have seperate rooms now, and the little guy we´re waiting for will have his own room as well.

My sister and I shared a room until I was 16. Drove me up the wall from the day she developed colic as a baby and screamed all night long (my parents just left her in her crib in my room so they could sleep) until the day we no longer had to share.

It's funny in that as an adult she's pretty easy going, but as a kid... nightmare.

My brother and I shared a room on and off until we were about 7 & 8. My mom said the only way my brother would sleep through the night when he was a baby was if he was in a room with me (I am less than a year older than him).

DD's do not share a room, but I think they might like to.

My sister and I shared a bedroom until I left home. She was neat and I was not so we argued over that. I was the nosey one and always into her stuff. So I enjoyed having her around not sure the sentiment is shared though. ;)

My boys share a room. When we buying our home they each wanted their own room until we moved then they decided they'd contiue to share. At times when they are irritating one another, the youngest suggest to his big brother that he moved into the spare bedroom(smaller).

I had to share a room with my older brother when I was younger since we only had 2 bedrooms. I hated being in there with him because he snored all the time, so I would sneak in the bed with my mom. Then she gave him a room to himself and I had to share a room with her. I hated it as a teenager because I never had any privacy. As soon as he moved out, I moved in.

My 2 DS had to share a room until we moved in the house. Now they have their own bedroom.

I shared a room with both of my brothers until I was 7. Then we moved and I had my own room, but my brothers had to share. Then at 13, we moved again and ALL THREE of us had to share a horrendously tiny room. :sad2: That was a nightmare! My twin snored like a sawmill and I would lie awake at night, crying quietly because no matter what I did, I could not get to sleep.

Then a year later, we moved across town and I have had my own room again for nearly 5 years. My brothers (17 and 19) still have to share but they get along alright most of the time. If I had a sister, I would be sharing with her. But it's a good thing I don't, because I hate sharing my personal space. I need the little bit of freedom that having my own room gives me. :thumbsup2

Why am I suddenly reminded of the Brady Bunch episode where Marsha and Greg fight over the spare attic bedroom?
