We are leaving from disney and headed to Cape Carnevale in 40 days!! What the best/cheapest method to get to the cruise port? We are cruising on Carnival and there are four of us.

Thanks

Cheapest? Rental car. Best? Car service. You can rent a car at WDW, drop everyone at the ship and then return the car, and get a ride back on the rental company shuttle. Or, just book a towncar service...expensive but oh so convenient!!!

Budget rental car is what we did. They have a rental center by the port with free shuttle vans standing by to take folks to the ship.

You didn't mention the length of cruise. We did a weekend cruise a couple of winters ago and found it was cheaper to keep the car for the whole time (yes including parking costs while on the cruise) than to book 2 one ways rentals from/to the cruise port. If its a 7 day+ cruise, I suspect the 2 one ways would be the better deal but couldn't hurt to check.
FYI: I believe we used Park-and-Cruise, its about a 5 minute shuttle ride to the port and it's 50-60% less than parking right at the cruise port. Think we paid $5.99/day for parking. Our week car rental was $98 incl taxes and when I checked out 2 one ways for our cruise it was going to be $60 for each way so we just kept the car for the week and parked it during our 3 day cruise and had a vehicle for the rest of our trip. Just sayin' it's worth checking it both ways. The added bonus was that we didn't have to take all our luggage with us since we were able to leave a lot of our un-needed stuff and dirty laundry from the first week of the vacation in the trunk of the car.

We took DME back to MCO and picked up a Budget rental...one day, one way for $17. We drove to the port and then we took free shuttle to the ship. Did the same on the way back but the rental was about $60. We kept it all day and went to DTD for day and dropped it at MCO for our evening flight. Super easy, much more convenient and would do it again in a heartbeat!

Thank you everyone for your replies. I had originally booked a rental car to drive home from MCO to RI as flights coming back were very high. I looked into renting from our first day (May 19th and just returning in RI as planned). I was able to get a mid-size car from National, from 5/19 through 5/25 for less than $70!!!! I also pre-booked my parking at the port for $38.00 (could have saved money pre-paying but didn't)

The price of a one way shuttle for the four of us was about $130. so I saved a lot of money, and now we have a car to use for the two days before the cruise!!!

Thanks!!!
