Taken from SR 401 across the river from KSC about 2 miles from our house. They are a bit tilted but my photo editor for some reason isn't coming up tonight. Will fix and report later.

GREAT SHOTS--it is an awesome thing to see--thanks for posting:thumbsup2

I watched it on TV tonight. A friend of mine from Atlanta drove down to witness it. She said words could not describe it! Thanks for sharing your awesome pics!

Very cool, thanks for sharing.

Very awesome pictures. We couldn't see it here in South Florida, it was too cloudy. But my mom is up in Cocoa and she saw it.

anewvance, ah your Mom must not live too far from us then. Your kiddos are too cute, congrats on the little one, I bet he's a lot of fun. =o)

Beautiful pics :thumbsup2 Do you know what kind of mission the shuttle is on??

Here is a great read all about the mission from the NASA site.... STS 117

In a nut shell, from the article:
"When Atlantis heads for the International Space Station in June, its mission may sound a little familiar. The crew will install a new truss segment, unfurl new solar arrays and fold up an old one – all tricky stuff that’s been done on the past two missions."

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 That is Something I have always wanted to see in person. Thanks for the post!

Wow!! I'd love to see that sometime....lucky you! Great shots! :thumbsup2

Great Shots!!! It appears you're just a bit closer to KSC than I am. :rotfl:

This is OT but I have to tell you that I Finally got the husband to go see a launch last night. With the Parkinson's he had been feeling really bad but the doctors changed his meds around about a month ago and he's been doing somewhat better. So off we went to an area that's high up (well high up for Florida) and in the next town. He was blown away by the sight of it taking off!

For the rest of the night I made him tell me that, yes, seeing it in person was a million times better than watching on TV.

Those pics are incredible! Now, I've definitely got to try to see one close up!

Virgo10, I am so happy your hubby was feeling well enough to go view the launch, it's incredible isn't it? =o)

When I was 14 I got to view it from the Press Site, the launch was at 4am and it lit up the sky like it was Noon, incredible! This launch was boardering on being a night launch, I wish it had been an hour later and then it would have been amazing!!

This was my fiance's first time seeing it this close. Normally it's been on TV or from 30-40 miles away. He was impressed.
